Why there are so many churches
Suffice to say, why is there a necessity for soooo frikkin many churches, all reading the same book? Is there that much confusion as to what jesus said? Is there that much confusion as to what you are supposed to do to please god? Would not just one church be sufficient?
Various churches often do not agree with certain interpretations of the bible, which is why there are various denominations.
If we read the letter written by Thomas Jefferson that inspired the phrase and belief of the separation of church and state, the spirit of that letter was in a time of competing denominations. Many fears arose that the United States government would take an official stance on Christianity, thus nullifying one large reason for seceding with England and its Church of England.
In an attempt to assuage those concerns, he wrote that the government should take a neutral approach.
Protestants generally do not believe in a papacy of men acting as vicars of Christ. There is no hierarchy to rule them, so they have all branched off on their own. Either congregation agrees with the interpretation or they find a new church.
That is why there are so many churches in America.

Specious argument
Then you use an avatar that can be easily associated with atheism. Your avatar is an image created for and used by the rock band Pink Floyd. Did you realize that most, if not all, of the members were or are atheists?
Yeah, and? If I listened to Hindi music would that make me weird just because I'm not a Hindu? Maybe I just like the music. Maybe she just likes Pink Floyd. When I was a Christian, I listened to Pink Floyd. And now that I'm not a Christian, I listen to some Christian metal bands.
I would think the only time it would be a problem [for her] is listening to overtly Satanic music, where there is too great a conflict of interests.

Re: Avatar
For most people avatars are a bit different. They are an online representation of oneself.
Would it be any more strange than if you were a Christian but also a Red Sox fan? Why can't she both a Christian and a Pink Floyd fan? Why does she have to be one-dimensional and be compartmentalized in to what conforms to your standard rather than her own?
The argument seems very trivial.

Laodicean or Philadelphian?
Jesus is a living Person.
It's true, he works at my favorite taco stand. Helluva guy, too. He makes my fish taco's with just a pinch of cilantro.
The enjoyment of the living Person of Christ is the most important factor of the unity of Christians.
*wonders why so many are so miserable*
But if you want to be called "brother" and you deny that Jesus is Divinity or that the Bible is the word of God, then we will have a problem. The divinity of Christ is not something I will be accomodating with.
Sounds like maybe you are not much different than the others. So much division in the church because each think their way is "The Way." On the surface Peg and Buz are one and the same, but dig deeper and they are almost ideological opposites.
Who is the Laodicean church? Who is the Philadelphian?
