Ad Hominem
Jesus and Mo
I posted this not because it's hilariously funny, but because it makes a point that I had to make to another member recently. It's very common to see people in internet debates accusing others of ad hom while doing exactly what Mo does here in frame 3.

The post is still a lie. Attributing these to Leno and letterman and the like is an attempt to give them some sort of legitimacy. Which they do not have.
Not funny. If they were just told as jokes maybe a little funny, but a false attribution makes them not funny at all.
I don't think they are trying to fool people that those jokes are from Leno and Letterman. They are satirizing those comedians by putting Obama jokes in their mouths, the jokes being similar (in a right/left reversed way) to the type of jokes those people would make about G. W. Bush.
The satire is in the attributions more than the actual jokes, and the target is more their view of liberal media bias than Obama himself.
A rare example of conservative subtlety (I'm speaking relatively) has caught you by surprise, which is hardly your fault, because of that rarity.

If you read the emails it is obvious that they are not trying to be subtle.
Emails? What emails?
{ABE}Faith's source, BTW, and she's pointed out the misattribution.

Suspension tool.

Faith writes, in Message 307 of Report discussion problems here: No.2:
Please suspend me. I can't stand this place. You're all insane.
Now that was funny.
It could be arranged.

Wow, that was really tasteless.
Didn't expect that from you.
Such things are highly subjective. One good thing that can be said about you, CS, is that, although you describe yourself by your religion, you certainly couldn't normally be accused of being sanctimonious. Please keep it that way.
If someone arrives (or returns to) a discussion board, and can be abrasive, and calls people names, then I would describe that person as one of the group in which I'd include myself (and you) who is bound to get into the occasional "brawl", and should be able to take some flak in return. We don't need protection.
This is the year 2010, not 1810, and there are still people around who believe that the earth is less than 10,000 years old. When such a person describes others as insane, then, IMO, there's certainly no need to pull punches. Such people are delusional, without question, so I'm happy to teach them what insanity really is, and to do so on their own level of politeness.

The moral of the story? Shows what a little faith can do.

Or alternatively - The moral of the story is that people in glass houses should masturbate in the basement.
For their sake and everyone elses.
Surely you mean the moral of the story is "a cock in the hand is worth two in the bush"?
