Looking to expand? Although they came out last year, I bought them this year. Album of the year for me. Since I notice a few love death metal... This has some "death vocals" (most on the first song), mainly female fronted, great vocals. Maybe some will like it. Epica | Listen and Stream Free Music, Albums, New Releases, Photos, Videos

Tons of death metal bands I like musically....but for one small problem I just cannot buy............ The vocals. I can deal with a band using some death vocals for effect here and there...but an entire album is just too much for me. Love this band Kamelot...but what makes the song great is the evil vocals (I think its the guy from Dimmu): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Qdcl67H1Jw If you are interested in female fronted metal (may be too "clean" for your tastes though): Ever hear of Nightwish? Leaves Eyes? After Forever? Visons of Atlantis, Dawn of Destiny.....to name a few.

Rahvin writes: I have a mild hearing problem: I cannot understand lyrics easily. That sucks. It would be ironic if the cause was due to your taste in music. My parents all the time use to say I would go deaf listening to metal though. Maybe there isnt anything wrong with your hearing....no one can understand what any of those vocalists are singing in death metal!

1 is pretty decent. 2, awful vocals. 3, eh. I just hate cookie monster vocals. Could never get into that style. Bathory sounds too primitive for me. Need incredible production. I did like the first though.

Huntard writes: My favourite band? Iron Maiden! For the rest I like classic metal, and some newer stuff. Not really into all the "growly stuff" but will listen to it from time to time. Oh yeah, a great american band I just thought of: Iced Earth! Anyway, Up The Irons! Love Maiden, but their last two had production problems. You would think with all the technology, producers available and th gazillion dollars they have they could do much better. Their new album is already done, summer the release. As for Iced Earth, first few albums with Barlow as vocalist were great. The stuff with Ripper I thought was ok and their last album with Barlow back was decent. Band seems to be rehashing same songs over and over.

I love metal...but usually hate the "death type" vocals. Except in rare occasions, usually for "effect", cookie monster screams/grunts annoy me. But for some reason, this album, by these guys.....I can listen to. YouTube

Re: a couple I didn't see mentioned
I like a lot of the other stuff here but didn't see either of these mentioned. I mentioned COB in post 39. Although, its only one album I like by them, their second.

Re: a couple I didn't see mentioned
The guitarist was in another band for awhile called Sinergy. Played in both at the same time actually. Its COB lite. Very lite. But you can understand the vocals! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgppUB7-JVU
