Hmm yes, I hope their new one will be a it better on that front.
Love Maiden, but their last two had production problems. You would think with all the technology, producers available and th gazillion dollars they have they could do much better. Their new album is already done, summer the release.
Yep, I know. Looking forward to it!
As for Iced Earth, first few albums with Barlow as vocalist were great. The stuff with Ripper I thought was ok and their last album with Barlow back was decent. Band seems to be rehashing same songs over and over.
I agree. It seems like the inspiration is gone a bit towards the later stuff. Hope they find themselves again. Or really, Hope Schaffer finds himself again.

Hey CA.
Subject: Metal Mania (music) I think it's hilarious that "Metal Mania" without the "(music)" qualifier would create much confusion for those thinking of participating in a thread concerning, say, the rising price of gold. Well, of course Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera and Iron Maiden reign supreme. Also, Avenged Sevenfold, Drowning Pool, Faith No More, Disturbed, Godsmack, Alice in Chains (more grunge metal, I guess), Sevendust, G & R, Velvet Revolver, Slipknot, Tool, Union Underground. As for death metal, I've been dipping into Lamb of God, In Flames, and Job For a Cowboy lately. Not my most favorite stuff, but tall fun nonetheless. Have a good one. Anyone else like Suidakra? This is one of my favorite songs:
"Some people think God is an outsized, light-skinned male with a long white beard, sitting on a throne somewhere up there in the sky, busily tallying the fall of every sparrow. Othersfor example Baruch Spinoza and Albert Einsteinconsidered God to be essentially the sum total of the physical laws which describe the universe. I do not know of any compelling evidence for anthropomorphic patriarchs controlling human destiny from some hidden celestial vantage point, but it would be madness to deny the existence of physical laws."-Carl Sagan "Show me where Christ said "Love thy fellow man, except for the gay ones." Gay people, too, are made in my God's image. I would never worship a homophobic God." -Desmond Tutu

Pendragon's Fall is another good song.

I love metal...but usually hate the "death type" vocals. Except in rare occasions, usually for "effect", cookie monster screams/grunts annoy me. But for some reason, this album, by these guys.....I can listen to.

Thunderhorse! Thunderhorse! I think either Mermaider (it's about Mermaid murder)or Awaken Mustakrakish is my favorite. Kastratikron is just effing hilarious. And of course, since tax day was just a little while ago, Detharmonic was very appropriate. Listening to more Nightwish after the recommendations here and (coincidentally) from another friend. Starting to really, really like them.

(it's about Mermaid murder) WTF????! It's a damn good thing Dethklok is a cartoon and (mostly) relegated to fantasyland. Because c'mon: Mermaid Murder? Seriously? What kind of perverse, fucked up lunatic is so severely demented as to write a song about something as sick, twisted and downright ... BOGUS ... as Mermaid Murder? Damn. I really can't take it. Mermaid Murder? Absolutely unacceptable! What's happened to our culture, our dignity, our MORALS??? Mermaids are nice. I keep mine in a big tank in my garage attic, and we like to write poems and sing Madrigals in four part harmony. Have a good one. Death metal is gay. There, I've said what everyone else was thinking. Anyone who pretends to sound like a satanic retard is a douchebag.
Sorry to say this euro friends but, you ruined what used to sound sick when it was thrash metal and barrio punk rock music. Back in the late '70's early '80's, with bands like Sepultura, Suicidal Tendencies, Slayer - basically the South American/California groups. Viking/black metal is melodic and gay, sorry, but it's true. There's no keyboard in metal for fuck sake! And there are no more vikings, so stop it. Seriously. - Oni Edited by onifre, : No reason given.

Is there an emote for a middle finger?
Whatever man. To each his own. My musical tastes have always been different from most of the people I associate with, and frankly I'm past caring. If it sounds good to me, I'll listen to it. But Dethklok rules. Say otherwise at your peril!

Oh yes, most of their songs are completely fucking cool. I just love the the fact they made a song with just four words as lyrics.

Then you might like to know that the vocalist on the first albums (up to and including Once), Tarja Turunen, is no longer in the band.
