a couple I didn't see mentioned
Unearth
Saw them as an opening band at a metal show and thought they kicked ass so I bought their cd and have been enjoying them.
Also:
Children of Bodom
Heard about them from a friend who I've permantly borrowed thier cd from.
I like a lot of the other stuff here but didn't see either of these mentioned.
But I really like being exposed to new metal bands that I hadn't seen before. That's the best part about these threads.

I mentioned COB in post 39. Although, its only one album I like by them, their second.
To be fair to myself, you didn't actually type their name in there, which is what I'd notice from my quick read though, you just dropped a bare link to them (that I didn't click on).
Please use words...

Re: a couple I didn't see mentioned
COB opened for Megadeth in the Twin Cities area a couple years back. They were pretty good, IIRC. Also at that same concert were In Flames and Job For a Cowboy, which were both decent as well. I just gave a listen to your Unearth link -- respectable guitar work, and pretty wicked sound. To be honest, I've always been more partial to this type of vocals than the growly death metal standard, but to each his own, eh?
Respectable guitar work....
Watching thier lead guitarist play it live is what prompted me to buy the album. He was doing some serious shredding... That's a big pull for me.

I like to be capable of understanding the words if I want to, at least....
But, unlike Ravin (IIRC), I pay attention to the lyrics to see if there's anything there to be said.
