A place to nominate Posts of the Month for May has not been made yet, so I am hereby proposing one.
And, I want to nominate Modulous' Message 228 from dinosaur and human co-existence, which neatly and bluntly discusses the significance of expertise and the difference between hypotheses and "just so" stories.
I have always admired Mod's way of presenting potentially volatile argumentation straightforwardly without coming off as a jerk, and this post, I think, is one of the best I've seen in awhile.

Case of the disappearing POTM topic?
I have a vague memory of a previous May 2010 POTM topic already existing, but it sure isn't to be found.
Anyhow, what is normally the message 1 is as follows:
-----
When you find a post that is too good to be missed, nominate it here as one of the May, 2010, Posts of the Month (POTM).
You message subtitle should include the author's name and the topic/thread title.
Message Format:
Author: Author's Name
Forum: Forum where posted
Thread: Thread title
Message #: Number and Link to the nominated message
Nominations should include a link to the nominated article, and a short comment on why the message deserves nomination.
Note: As always, this is not a thread for debates. Posts should be limited to nomination, seconds, and acceptance statements by nominees.
Edited by Adminnemooseus, : Change an "April" into a "May".

I agree with Woodsy, that Message 45 in The Impossibility Of The Flood is spot on.

RAZD, for an amusing rebuttal

Usually RAZD's posts are a bit longish, but sometimes a little gem emerges from among them, with very funny paragraphs like this one:
Amusingly, now that it has been invented you have to put oil and coolant in your car to prevent the buildup of heat energy from friction from causing damage to the car. How much simpler it would be if they had not invented it eh?
I'm still grinning.

Re: anglagard
Thank you Woodsy and RAZD. Always nice to know that some of my rants hit the right chord with some admired participants.
Would have acknowledged earlier, but have been busy with other matters, and almost missed your compliments.

The idea of the sacred is quite simply one of the most conservative notions in any culture, because it seeks to turn other ideas - uncertainty, progress, change - into crimes.

Re: Bump for RAZD
Thank you Parasomnium,
It has me grinning too. The statement it is in response to is worthy of a "fundies say the darnedest things" nomination.

Fiver at "Biological classification vs "kind""
Author: Fiver
Forum:Biological Evolution
Thread: Biological classification vs 'Kind'
Message #: 24
"It" has been said before, but here is a nice presentation of "it" again:
The main contradiction for Creationists in defining "kind" is to define this term simultaneously (a) broad enough that the observed instances of speciation can't be considered the creation of a new "kind" and (b) narrow enough that humans and the other apes are separate 'kinds'.
And more.
At least one person tagged it with a "5". I added my "5". Having posted 11 messages, Fiver currently has a "5" member rating.
