Jesus is God
Thomas certainly came to the couclusion that Jesus was God as he confessed this to Jesus, "My Lord and my God !" (John 20:26)
Jesus did not rebuke Thomas or correct him, but said this in return, "Because you have seen Me, have you believed ? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed." (John 20:29)
Yes, blessed are those who honor Jesus as LORD!
The Jews of Jesus' day certainly knew what Jesus meant when He declared this in Luke 22,
70 And they all said, "Are You the Son of God, then ?" And He said to them, "Yes, I am."
71 Then they said, "What further need do we have of testimony ? For we have heard it ourselves from His own mouth."
John 5:18 For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God.
John 19:7 The Jews answered him, "We have a law, and by that law He ought to die because He made Himself out to be the Son of God."
If Jesus is not God, then we are all dead in our trespasses and sins. Try as you will to make Jesus to be a created being, and it fails when the whole counsel of God's Word is considered.
I'm thankful that my sins are covered by the ONE who
"But from now on THE SON OF MAN WILL BE SEATED AT THE RIGHT HAND of the power OF GOD." (Luke 22:69)
Isa 9:6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders ; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
Maybe it takes a journey to Damascus for some to find/honor the LORD Jesus? (Acts 9:5)
Blessings

Jesus is Lord God
Peg writes,
"Jesus admitted to being a 'SON' of God... not God himself."
So you know more what Jesus meant than did the Jews of Jesus' day when they declared this in John 5:18?
"For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God."
No one who does not honor Jesus as Lord God, as do Jehovah Witnesses, can correctly can understand Scriptural salvation that God gives thru the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, nor can they lead others into God's salvation.

Jesus is LORD God
Peg writes,
"Their reasoning was completey wrong just as your reasoning is completely wrong."
I agree that someone's reasoning is completely wrong, but it was neither the Jews of Jesus' day, nor my reasoning. The wrong reasoning is all yours.
Maybe you would like to reason with Saul as he traveled to Damascus in Acts 9,
3 As he was traveling, it happened that he was approaching Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him;
4 and he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?"
5 And he said, "Who are You, Lord ?" And He said, "I am Jesus whom you are persecuting
Jesus did not deny that He was Lord to Saul, nor does Jesus do so to those who declare, as did Thomas, "My Lord and my God." We are able to hear His voice and follow Him (John 10:27).

Jesus is LORD God
Peg writes,
"So you think because Paul called Jesus 'lord' it means that he is God Almighty?"
Paul did not call Jesus "lord." Paul called Jesus "Lord."
Lord is the position of honor within the Godhead. Before Jesus' incarnation when He entered the world He made (John 1:10), the position of Lord resided with God the Father (Isa 48:16). After Jesus' exaltation to the right hand of God the Father, Peter declared this:
"Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ - this Jesus whom you crucified" (Acts 2:36).
Moses was not allowed to see the Lord's face in Ex 33:23, but God did allow Moses to see His back side.
Begotten in John 1:18 refers to Jesus' resurrection, not His birth (Acts 13:33). Jesus is the only ONE who has fully seen God the Father. Jesus is the only ONE who could say, "He who has seen Me has seen the Father" (John 14:9).
Deny if you will that Jesus is Lord God. "If we deny Him, He also will deny us" (2 Tim 2:12).
Those that deny Jesus is Lord God will not enter into eternity with Him.
It's as simple and as difficult as that!

Jesus is LORD GOD
When Moses asked God who He was in Ex 3:14, God said this to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM
Jesus declared this to the Jews in John 8:58, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I AM."
Thus Jesus identified Himself as the eternal I AM GOD.
To those who honor Jesus as LORD GOD, no other proof is necessary.
To those who do not honor Jesus as LORD GOD, no other proof can be given.
To those who deny Jesus is LORD GOD, He will deny you.
It’s as simple and as difficult as that!

The Word of God was made flesh
PEG writes,
"well if you think its possible that God with his inifite power and energy could be bundled up into a tiny fleck of human flesh, then thats up to you"
The problem lies not with EMA nor with me. The problem lies with your rejection of the God of the Bible as revealed in John 1:14,
"And the Word became (not created) flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth."
Those who receive this God of the Bible, He declares this to us,
"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God." (John 1:12-13)
If you want to continue believing in your Jehovah Witness created Jesus, that is your choice. But you cannot tamper with the revealed God of the Bible as though He were put together and can be explained by the Russellites of this world.

The Lord is the Spirit
John declares this in John 4,
23 "But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.
24 "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."
In Acts 2:36 Peter declares this,
"Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ - this Jesus whom you crucified."
Paul declares this in 2 Cor 3.
15 But to this day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their heart ;
16 but whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.
17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.
There is a veil that remains even to today over the eyes and hearts of those who deny that Jesus is Lord God. If they deny that Jesus is Lord God, God's Spirit cannot, nor will not take the things of Jesus and disclose them to us (John 16:15). If we deny Jesus is Lord God, He will deny us (2 Tm 3:12).
There is only one work that man can do, as declared by John 6,
28 Therefore they said to Him, "What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God ?"
29 Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent."
When man chooses to believe in "another Jesus" other than the ONE revealed in Scripture, there is no salvation in any other NAME (Acts 4:12).

Re: The Lord is the Spirit
Your argument lies not with me, but with the revealed Word of God.
The writer of Hebrews declares this in Heb 1,
1 God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways,
2 in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.
3 And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
4 having become as much better than the angels, as He has inherited a more excellent name than they.
These Scriptures declare the worlds were made thru Jesus.
These Scriptures declare Jesus is the exact representation of His heavenly Father.
These Scriptures declare the Jesus upholds all things by the word of His power.
These Scriptures declare Jesus made purification of sins.
These Scriptures declare the LORD Jesus sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.
The more excellent name Jesus was given is LORD in the Godhead acording to Acts 2:36.
Yes, the Lord Jesus is the exact representation of God the Father, and this is the Lord Jesus God the father honors with His salvation. There is no salvation in "another" JW Jesus.

Re: The Lord is the Spirit
Peg writes,
"Now if you think that the Son is God because of what hebrews says, then you must also think that the prophets were God too, yes? "
Hebrews 1:1 does not say that the prophets were God. It simply says God spoke thru the prophets that came before Jesus.
But Hebrews 1:2 says that God the Father not only spoke thru God the Son, but that God the Son also made the world.
Maybe you can't or choose not to see the difference?
Maybe it's because you've not entered into the truth of what Jesus said in John 3:3-7,
3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God."
4 Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old ? He cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born, can he?"
5 Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 "Do not be amazed that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'

It may interest some at this forum to know that a created being CANNOT create ANYTHING.
The only thing a created being can do is receive from and cooperate with our Creator.
For those who believe this is what Jesus said He did in John 5:19, listen up to what a wise Bible teacher Ray Stedman once said:
"When our Lord was here, He did not go around showing people how God behaved; He showed them how a man behaved - man indwelt by God, as God intended man to be. And all that you see in Jesus, during the days of His flesh, is a perfect humanity. His Deity was hidden, He didn't give it up - you can't give up what you are - but He laid aside the exercise of it."
Those who deny the Deity of the Lord Jesus cannot understand how God the Son could and did lay aside the exercise of His Deity, showing us how a man can and should live in perfect relationship with God the Father.

Jesus is the Word of God
John 1:1-3 translated in the Interlinear Greek-English New Testamant reads as follows,
1. In beginning was the Word, and Word was with God, and God was the Word.
2. This One was in beginning with God.
3. All things through Him became, and without Him became not one thing which has become.
In order to get around the clear revelation that "God was the Word," Jehovah's Witnesses have created their own translation of the Bible - the New World Translation - which says Jesus was a god, thus making Jesus a created being.
No Christian group uses the New World Translation Bible and Jehovah's Witnesses make very little use of other Bibles, relying instead on their own the New World Translation Bible.
When any group can write their own bible as do JW's, they can make it say whatever suits their beliefs.
But God who has revealed Himself as the Word who created all things, and then entered the world He created becoming flesh, declares,
"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God."
Those who do not receive "God the Word who became flesh" cannot become children of God.
It's as simple and as difficult as that!

Jesus is Lord God, Hallelujah!
Peg writes:
but there is also a problem with the idea that jesus is equivalent with the holy spirit....here it is:
Matthew 12:31 writes:
On this account I say to YOU, Every sort of sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the spirit will not be forgiven. 32 For example, whoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the holy spirit, it will not be forgiven him, no, not in this system of things nor in that to come.
Peg writes:
If jesus is equal to the holy spirit, why is blasphemy against one considered as far worse (unforgivable) while blashphemy against the other is forgivable? If they are equal, then blasphemy against both should be either unforgivable OR forgivable.
Unless, to sin against the holy spirit is to sin against someone greater then Jesus, the source of that spirit, God himself.
It is a contrast between slandering "the Son of man" in His veiled condition and unfinished work--which might be done "ignorantly, in unbelief" ( 1 Timothy 1:13 ), and slandering the same blessed Person after the blaze of glory which the Holy Ghost was soon to throw around His claims, and in the full knowledge of all that. This would be to slander Him with eyes open, or to do it "presumptuously." To blaspheme Christ in the former condition--when even the apostles stumbled at many things--left them still open to conviction on fuller light: but to blaspheme Him in the latter condition would be to hate the light the clearer it became, and resolutely to shut it out; which, of course, precludes salvation.
Matthew 12 Commentary - Commentary Critical and Explanatory on the Whole Bible
This JW's have done since the inception of this cult, precluding their salvation.
It's as simple and as difficult as that!
PS - I may not start too many topics at this forum, but I seem to have a gift for finishing topics that unbelievers start.
