I hear that Honda is better than Toyota. Anyone else know what I mean?
Not quite sure ...
Does this mean your taste in cars sucks?

Re: Early deflation of hope
I'll just be happy to not see Shaun Wright-Phillips on the pitch.
I agree. He's similar to Walcott, except too old to have any potential to improve.
One player I really like for England is Glen Johnson. He always plays without fear. Even if he makes errors he doesn't try and hide or lose confidence. He just goes out and plays his normal game. I hope the rest of the team go on to do the same.

No ... no, I admit.
Not like it's real football or anything. So I'm not missing anything important except maybe the car commercials.

Haha, not the commercial. The guy who scored and therefore won for Japan was name Honda.

Confused England Supporter
The occasion on Sat was far better than the game. 500+ people in a huge pub garden in Brixton watching on multi-screen with keg laden beer jockeys prowling around suppplying the necessary cold fizzy shit. Hugs and jubilation turned to dismay and (typically British) sarcastic but good humoured resignation to our fate and goalkeeping inadequaies. Partied till 2AM whatever the result.
Surprised the Yanks actually tied with England. Not at all surprised the Krauts bested the Aussies.... But 4-0???
I canot believe that Christianic polytheism has stopped me bantering on the WC!!!
No - I am not surprised the cheating Yank gits tied with England. How dare they shoot so pathetically that it surprises our highly trained goalkeeper into submission on the basis of shock poorness.
We ae used to a better class of opposition. The yanks beat us by being unexpectedly bad.
Let's hope the Slovenians and Algerians are much much better....
Oh. Wait a minute......

Really!?! I thought it just showed how overrated England is.
I didn't even know the USA had a soccer team, I mean its soccer, who the hell cares, isn't that sport for girls anyway? I figured with soccer being their big popular sport they would be good at it.

Indeed it is. Even at the International level apparently. Taz was just saying something about some Japanese girls driving around South Africa in a Honda. I guess they won their game and were out celebrating or something. I didn't get much more than that.

Don't knock it, Limey, it worked didn't it!
Good Ol' Yankee ingenuity. Y'all fell for it again, just like some 200 years ago.
-----------------------------------------------------
I do have an on-topic question.
Saw the rankings of, Group G or something.
Brazil had 1(win) 0(loss) 0(tie) for 3 point then +1 GD
North Korea had 0, 0, 1 for 0 points and -1 GD
What is this GD thingie?

Re: Confused England Supporter

Goal Difference.
The difference between the number of goals scored and conceded.
In the event of two teams being on equal points in terms of wins, draws etc. it is the deciding factor in who qualifies from the group.
Don't knock it, Limey, it worked didn't it!
I suggest you keep up that strategy against all your opponents

It's not "soccer", it's football - called that because it's the game where the foot is used to move the ball (the clue is in the title).
For your heretical comments, and audacity at preventing us from winning, I declare football jihad against USA.
Let's hope we meet again later in the tournament, and we can teach you infidels a lesson!

Absurd! Soccer is soccer, always has been, always will be.
Real Football is where you pick up the ball and throw it down the field with your arms (no your arms don't go down field with the ball, they stay attached to your body, otherwise it's a penalty.).
First you'll notice that the ball used in soccer is round! It's not oblong like a real football. You pick it up and throw it and the damn thing just spins. No tight spiral along the greater axis (since the stupid thing doesn't have one) and thus no distance or accuracy.
Look at the way a typical non-football soccer game is played. No one even touches the damn ball! No one picks it up and runs with it, no one picks it up and passes it down the field. It's like the poor thing is diseased and no one wants to touch it! Absurd.
Look at the kicks and head-butts. Again no accuracy. The ball bounces every which way. No wonder no one ever scores in this so called sport. You run up and down the field with the ball going willy-nilly all over the place for 90 damn minutes and end up with an aggregate score of 0. Nothing. Nada.
Look at all the games played so far in this presumptuously named World Cup and you get an average aggregate score of less than 1 per game! How the hell can you have a sport that has no scoring? That's not football. That's soccer. Absurd.
We're all supposed to be kind and tolerant, accepting of other cultures' strange and weird mores, but this just goes too far. Some things in this world are just sacred (though not in a religious sense unless you're a Cowboys fan).
Soccer is soccer. It is NOT football! It can hardly even be called a sport. This is another one of those instances where the damn foreigners in this world will just have to bow to the intellectual superiority of the American race. Damn foreigners. Absurd.

England isn't overrated overall, but I do think Team USA is underrated. Even still, they won because they're goalie sucks balls. The rest of the team is very good.

Thems fighting words on this board. Lot's of Europeans. Let's try and not sound like a typical, arrogant American.
And, yes, I would say the opposite if someone was ripping on American football or basketball.
