Re: As many as the Lord our God will call to Himself
"John",
I asked a few questions....and you ignored each and every one of them.
You made a claim that the Bible does not have false prophecies. I'm trying to establish a friendly debate to show that scripture does have a few problems concerning prophecies, especially in regards to the end times.
But we will not make any progress if you continue to ignore questions when asked. Jay also had a nasty "habit" of doing so.
I'm not sure if this is your normal routine when debating and do not realize you are doing so or you're just deliberately avoiding these issues.
If you really wish to continue can you please address the questions I asked?
Thanks.

A 'prophecy' that is extended indefinitely to the future is a failed prophecy...
What do you think is a reasonable time period.??

I know God's word has never failed to save those who repent according to Acts 2:38,
How do you know anything at all about what happened to anyone's "spirit" or "soul" or whatever it is that you claim is capable of being "saved" after that person dies?
You know nothing of the sort, John. You're Making Stuff Up.

Re: As many as the Lord our God will call to Himself
But we will not make any progress if you continue to ignore questions when asked.
I gave you specific answers to your questions concerning Matt 16 & 24.
The problem seems to be that you do not receive the answers Jay, I, or other believing Christians give you.
Since you seem to be an unbeliever, I cannot give you answers that you can hear until you enter by the door into God's salvation:
John 10:7-9 So Jesus said to them again,
"Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door ; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture."
When one asks the right questions, then they are ready for the rigtht answers.
Blessings

1 John 5:10-13
The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself ; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son. And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life ; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
Those that repent according to Acts 2:38, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of their sins, and receive the gift of God's Spirit,
The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God (Rom 8:16).

No. You avoid the questions asked and answer questions you THINK should be answered.
These are my qustions. They're "yes" or "no" answers.
Once I have your viewpoint, we can go from there.
Are we in agreement that in Matthew 24 that his disciples ask when Jesus will return and Jesus gives a list of signs that will precede his return?
Are we in agreement that the end times are to occur once?
Are we in agreement that Matthew 25 refers to the return of Jesus?
Are we in agreement that Revelation 22 refers to Jesus and his return?

I make the claim that it does.

Just because you believe that your book of myths is the absolute truth, matters not in the capabilities of others, Christan or not, to engage in informative debate about the book (Bible prophesies).

So you are confirming, with post 425, what I wrote: you know nothing about what happens after a person dies. You only can regurgitate mumbo-jumbo from you prefered Holy Text.
Thanks.

Wow.
Many times Jay and I have given you and others the truth of what the Bible has to say. I claim there are many parts of the Bible, including many prophesies, that unbelievers will not receive, nor can they understand.
There is one truth an unbeliever must do before he can understand many other parts of Scripture:
John 6:28 Therefore they said to Him, "What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God ?"
29 Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent."
Continuing to "debate" unbelievers on parts of Scripture they cannot understand before they believe in Him who God has sent is a waste of our times. If you and others have a genuine desire to believe in Him whom God has sent, there are Believers here that are ready and willing to help you find Him. Until then .....................

Re: As many as the Lord our God will call to Himself
The reason you and Jay refused to discuss Matthew 24 is quite obvious.
Your faith is that weak.
You both realize what Matthew 24 actually states. You would rather stick your head in the sand, ignoring the obvious problem.
A shame what religion does.

What is obvious is that you have no desire to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ whom God sent for your salvation.

That it is, John. Your unbelief in the Invisible Pink Unicorn (PBUHHH!) may lead to you eating unsalted boiled turnips, with no butter or even margarine, in the afterlife while wethe saints feast on ham-and-pineapple pizza at her Eternal Beach Party Without Ultraviolet Rays.
Indeed, a Shame.

Re: As many as the Lord our God will call to Himself
Hi hERICtic,
hERICtic writes:

I like to discuss Matthew 24 so much I get in trouble sometime doing so.
I believe the Bible is accurate and that there is no problem posed by the proper understanding of Matthew 24.
There are certain things that must be known to come to an understanding of any text. I was first taught the principals below in a journalism class. Because there are certain things you need to know to be able to tell a story.
In Matthew chapter 24:
1) Who is speaking or writing?
2) Who is being quoted in the speaking or writing?
3) To whom or about whom/what is he/she speaking or writing?
4) What subject is he/she speaking or writing about?
5) When or about what time is he/she speaking or writing?
6) What is the occasion for the speaking or writing?
This is known as the six point question rule.
The answers to these questions are necessary to understand the meaning of any passage in the Bible.
Once the answers to these questions are obtained the application must be determined.
1) Is it a general application of a truth or deed to every person?
2) Is it a particular application of a truth or deed to an individual or a particular group?
These are some of the first things a person is taught in Bible College.
1) Matthew or some one is writing.
2) Jesus is speaking in 24:2, and begins speaking again in 24:4.
3) In vs 2 Jesus is speaking to His disciples which is His Church/Bride, and again in verse 4 Jesus begins to speak again to His disciples who are His Church/Bride.
4) Jesus is speaking about three subjects. The destruction of the temple, The sign of His return, and The end of the world/Universe.
5) 2 days before He is betrayed to be crucified. Matthew 26:2.
6) The occasion for Jesus speaking was that the disciples had asked 3 specific question. He did teach them many other things. The three questions was given under #4.
Conclusions:
Matthew is writing quoting Jesus.
Jesus is speaking to His disciples/Church/Bride.
About the destruction of the temple, His return, and the destruction of the Universe.
Since the disciples/Church/Bride is still in existence there are still those alive to see the coming events that will take place in the future.
God Bless,

"John 5:39 (KJS) Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me."
