There is not a shred of evidence that before the "Holy Spirit" was supposedly deposited on us, that humans were incapable of loving and caring for each other. It's the same as the story of Moses sharing the 10 Commandments. It just wouldn't have been possible for humans to have survived as a species up to that point if they hadn't already evolved and learnt how to co-exist.
I am not exactly sure, but I think the Holy Spirit did exist before Jesus. But it may have only been available to the righteous, such as Moses.
Of course people loved and cared for each other, that was what all those rules were about in the OT.
Not everyone knew how to co-exist, and things were pretty barbaric back the day YO.
I'm all in favour of more love and goodwill, but we must have already had the innate ability for this - and acted upon it - way before someone claimed the credit for giving it to us.
God is love, and created us out of love. Do trees love? Where did this ability come from? It just evolved? Of course it did.

Mother Teresa was a bitch. Honestly.
I wouldn't know really, I was under the impression she was a good person. I have not ever heard anything bad about her, and her accomplishments were thought to be great.
I don't know how true those accusations are, and I don't have time, or the resources to accurately assess that, but suffice to say, it takes 7 truths to get rid of one lie. And if Mother Theresa spent her whole life doing the best she could trying to help people, then this bad mouthing is a tragedy. I see it all the time with genuine people who get accused of things they never did. Just look at that black lady and how she was called a racist, and what it did to her.
I mean if she did bad, then I wasn't obviously talking about that. That would suck anyway if that was true.

You got that right. Just look at Joshua, out to destroy all of Canaan. Oh that was alright since he was doing his barbaric god's will.

I dont know about the gods but I met my goddess the other day. I knelt down to worship at the holy alter and all my prayers were answered. You guys must not be doing it right. You have to worship long and hard, and really mean it. A little bit of groveling is OK but not too much. Pay attention and be patient, keep your eyes open and you ll come across one in no time.
Goddess bless.
P.S.- I really didnt envision this as my first post on what I consider to be a gem of a site. Hope I havent offended any of the local gods.

Apparently she was.
You guys must not be doing it right.
She says that to all the boys.
You have to worship long and hard, and really mean it.
She says that too. But she means that one.
little bit of groveling is OK but not too much.
These goddesses are fickle creatures.
Pay attention and be patient, keep your eyes open and you ll come across one in no time.
The smutty innuendo continues.
Goddess bless.

Hope I havent offended any of the local gods.
That was my godly wife you were coming across........
Hence my displeasure.

Let me assure you, she was a vision.

Well...she never said that to me.

Tell me about it. I had to sit down, stand up, move over, bend over, reject the evil, reject all other goddess's (even if they are shiny), give up a bunch of other stuff and finally I received the blessing.
Pay attention and be patient, keep your eyes open and you ll come across one in no time.

Smutty?!? Careful or you might get smoted.

I assume by "of course it did" you are being cynical.
Why is it so hard to understand that love is a product of evolution? It's just an instinctive emotion, albeit a very deep rooted one that may last a lifetime. But otherwise it's no different to more ephemeral emotions such as fear, anger or joy.

Let me assure you, she was a vision.
Well what is the point of make-believe if you can't even dream up hot goddesses?
She says that to all the boys.
Well...she never said that to me.
No. I mean she tells all the boys that all the other boys aren't doing it right. What is the point of make-believe if you can't even dream up hot goddesses who massage your ego?
These goddesses are fickle creatures.
Tell me about it. I had to sit down, stand up, move over, bend over, reject the evil, reject all other goddess's (even if they are shiny), give up a bunch of other stuff and finally I received the blessing.
Nobody said the path to the blessings of the hot-goddess would be an easy one.
The smutty innuendo continues.
Smutty?!? Careful or you might get smoted.
Ohhhhh. I do hope so.
She said it was all about me.
She lies.
It will be thunderbolts at dawn for you m'lad.
Dawn eh? Typical...make me suffer before I die.
You will have noticed dawn came and went.
I lie too. But your suffering was no doubt good for you.

Re: Mother Teresa; Sacred Cow
Hi Rat,
I was under the impression she was a good person. I have not ever heard anything bad about her, and her accomplishments were thought to be great.
I guess that's because Christians tend to mention her as some sort of paragon. The faithful blind themselves to MT's poor track record or neglect to mention it because it doesn't tell the story they want to hear. There is a parallel here to the way MT herself was seemingly blind to the ill-effects that her efforts really had upon the poor.
I don't know how true those accusations are, and I don't have time, or the resources to accurately assess that, but suffice to say, it takes 7 truths to get rid of one lie.
Nor did you have the time to determine whether your praise of the woman was accurate.
And if Mother Theresa spent her whole life doing the best she could trying to help people, then this bad mouthing is a tragedy.
And it would be a tragedy if someone who accepted money from a corrupt dictator were to be held up as a moral paragon. It would be a tragedy if she were to be touted as helping the poor when in fact she may have been responsible for many deaths (non-terminal illness treated as terminal and the patients left to die avoidable deaths, a charge frequently levelled at her hospices). It would be a tragedy if Christians allowed their religious affiliation to blind them to the harm this woman did and her incredible hypocrisy.
I don't want to make a big deal of this, but I do think that Christians should be more careful about citing MT as an example of the good religion can motivate. She demonstrates the opposite. There was a streak of old-school Catholic mortification of the flesh and celebration of poverty in MT's modus operandi. Her own religion led her to harm those in her care and yet theists often bring her up as an example of how wonderful Christianity is. It is not appropriate.
I hope that you will think twice about using MT as an example of a good Christian in future.

Well of course. As I mentioned, that was the first thing I ever heard bad about her. It would be a shame though if she really was trying to be good, and people can spoil that by making up lies, or distorting truths about her. It kind of does not make sense to me to dedicate your whole life to helping people, and then be that corrupt, or have any kind of corruption going on. I also don't see anything wrong with taking money from a corrupt leader, as long as she was putting the money to good use. That happens often in the missionary world, and in help organizations working in foreign corrupt countries. I know about it first hand.
I mean really, what was her motives to be bad?
