Ah yes, I was about fourteen when i first started high school. I lived in a small town and I was reading the D&D books but didn't really tell anybody about it.
Then the Christians got up in arms and their heads started exploding over it.
My school even held a couple of rallies against it for two years straight.
I was living in a small town of about a thousand people of whom the vast majority considered themselves Christians.
But, at the time I believed the crazy stories going around because I had not yet been introduced to things like critical thinking.
In fact one teacher (during a rally)said he had actually read the books and when he got really super scared he tried to burn them, but they wouldn't burn. At least not until he poured holy water on the books. Then they burned. So surely that was the absolute proof of the existence of the devil, at least according to him.
So my mom threw away a hundred and fifty dollars worth of classic D&D books.
