[qs]Go ahead and defend those persecuted-turned-persecutor minorities all you want. I realize in a couple days my ratings will probably go down to 1. That's what happens in a world of political correctness when no matter how much bullshit you see you always have to talk nice to them. Hell, they could be voting by the masses to turn this country into their catholic theocratic haven and it would still be politically incorrect to call it bullshit.:
I don't understand, Taz. You want to kick immigrants out of the country? Forget about political correctness, my concern is that this line of thinking is fascist. Why would you do anything that extreme? Or are you trolling (a parody thread)? "Reason obeys itself; and ignorance submits to whatever is dictated to it" -- Thomas Paine

This came from a polish man protesting against the judge's decision on the unconstitutionality of prop 8. But that's one man's opinion. He doesn't speak for the entire Polish-American population. Besides, he's entitled to his opinions. "Reason obeys itself; and ignorance submits to whatever is dictated to it" -- Thomas Paine

Predominantly black and latino counties in California are fighting to keep prop 8. At least white people have an excuse to be bigots. They've been bigots since god smiled on white people ages ago. But all these communities who have been subjected to ongoing prejudices have absolutely no excuse to turn around and discriminate others. Actually, I'm going to start openly support changing the constitution to fight anchor babies. If they want to play this game, I'll play with them. Let's crack down on illegals. Let's require everyone carry around their papers so that we can pull over all the ones who look like they might be illegal. Woke up this morning and what did I hear? Taz, there is no "community of black and latino's that come together on all issues. You can find blacks and latino's who support Prop 8 too. Just because some people have been subjected to one form of discrimination doesn't mean they themselves are above it. What is infinitely worse is that your way of combating hypocrisy, is by you yourself being hypocritical. You're being irrational. So you want to combat racism and bigotry by adding more racism and bigotry? I think he actually wants to combat racism and bigotry with satire, sarcasm, and irony.

I say we kick all those immigrants out and let us natural borns deal with our own problems. They escaped from authoritarian regimes to come here just so they could persecute others? What kind of bullshit logic is that? Couldn't we just deport all the jerks irrespective of race or origin? You may ask: where to? Well, Antarctica's nice big and mostly empty. On the other hand, penguins are part-black and some of them are gay, so there could be the seeds of a conflict there. My money's on the penguins. Edited by Dr Adequate, : No reason given.

Maybe you should preemptively deport yourself. Well, deep down in my subconscious I have racist tendencies. I am not and don't pretend to be some enlightened individual. Sometimes it goes behind the couch and you can't find it.

I would have been much happier back in school to have learned that after the nazis surrendered every person who had ever had a nazi uniform on was put in concentration camps and gassed to death... or at least be fed to their own dogs. First of all the winning powers protected a lot of nazis and nazis sympathizers. It had nothing to do with political correctness. It had to do with whether they would be useful in the coming cold war. Also, a lot of rank and file Germans wore uniforms during the war. Do you propose that we act just like the nazi's and kill them all with no due process? I thought the war was partially to stop such behaviors.
Because of our politically correct world, that son of a bitch pol pot never faced any real trial or consequence.
Pol Pot not getting justice also had nothing to do with PC. Pol Pot was never caught. The Thai and Chinese governments gave him sanctuary but this was not a PC action, this was a government making a cold calculated decision that he was of use to them. In the end his own group the Khmer Rouge held him under arrest and were making moves to turn him over to an international tribunal.
quote: And because of our politically correct world, genocidal campaigns are allowed to be rampant for months before anyone lifted a finger to stop them. And even then, most of those who participated in the mass rape, torture, and murder never faced any real consequence. Nowadays, it seems like it's better to be the bad guys because the good guys are too busy trying to be politically correct to get anything done against the bad guys.
Show us how this is because of "political correctness". Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts

I wonder how much tough talk you'll do in front of a couple of blacks or mexicans? I presume none since you've brought your onslaught of racial slurs here to an internet forum, tough guy. Either that or you just need attention.
But anyway... Your fight shouldn't be with the persons race, but rather their religous beliefs, which usually dictates their personal stance on homosexuality. Most blacks and latinos (and lets be specific, you're on about mexicans only) have strong religious ties to Christianity, the biggest proponents of anti-gay marriage. You see the example clearly here on EvC. ANYONE of any color, race, ethnicity, who follows the strick teachings of the Bible, as most mexicans and blacks do, will have anti-homosexual feelings, even if it's just tucked away deep in their subconscious. And only shows it's face when they're in a closed voting booth. The main reason Prop 8 was originally voted against was, believed to be, the high influx of black voters who turned out to vote for Obama, in turn voting against Prop 8, which is what their Christian beliefs dictated.
But all these communities who have been subjected to ongoing prejudices have absolutely no excuse to turn around and discriminate others. But they do, it's in their Bible. Just as it's in the Bible of ALL Christians who oppose gay marriage, as they are the biggest anti-gay marriage proponets in the US. It only makes sense that groups who are predominantly Christian would be against gay marriage, no matter what color or ethnic background they happen to be.
Let's require everyone carry around their papers so that we can pull over all the ones who look like they might be illegal. As I read this thread it looks like you changed your focus from Latinos and Blacks, which would include ANY latin person, like me (and to that I say go fuck yourself), to now just focusing on mexican immigrants, and only illegal ones at that. Fine, so you do away with illegal immigrants, but what do you do about the other 46.9 million hispanics who are predominantly Christian and would vote as any other Christian would?... and the entire 41.1 million members of the African American community who are also predominantly Christian and would vote the same as other Christians? You don't solve anything by sending mexicans back. However, you may solve a lot by educating Christians and right-wing Republicans about tolerance and acceptance of individual freedoms. - Oni

I've already pointed this out before. I didn't say latino and black people. I said latino and black communities. Not referring to their race. I'm referring to their communities. It's not about race, it's about religious ties... Are you going to deny the stats that 70-80% of them are anti gay?
I wonder how much tough talk you'll do in front of a couple of blacks or mexicans? I presume none since you've brought your onslaught of racial slurs here to an internet forum, tough guy.
So, let's be politically correct and ignore the obvious prejudice coming from both these communities? But you're right, I won't say it into their faces. I will, however, vote every chance I get to have their rights taken away.
It only makes sense that groups who are predominantly Christian would be against gay marriage, no matter what color or ethnic background they happen to be.
Whoa whoa whoa there. You people have been making the politically correct statement that it's not the religion that does the hating. It's suppose to be the people. Now you're turning around and blame it on the religion to keep your words politically correct.
As I read this thread it looks like you changed your focus from Latinos and Blacks, which would include ANY latin person, like me (and to that I say go fuck yourself), to now just focusing on mexican immigrants, and only illegal ones at that.
I'm still focused on the blacks and latinos. It's just that I can't think of anything legal against them yet. So, I'll just aim for the most obvious targets... the illegals.
Fine, so you do away with illegal immigrants, but what do you do about the other 46.9 million hispanics who are predominantly Christian and would vote as any other Christian would?...
Ever heard of baby steps? I'm sure we'll come up with something to deal with those guys by then.
and the entire 41.1 million members of the African American community who are also predominantly Christian and would vote the same as other Christians?
And island sounds nice about now.

Ok, on a serious note. We've been trying to educate those christian bigots for centuries now. Nothing has changed. All they've done has been to change their target group they're going after, that's all. After the gheys, I'm sure they'll come up with another group to go after. May be it will be comedians that they will go after next time. See how funny you guys are in a cage sitting on top of your own filth. I'm beginning to think the only way to solve the problem rather than keep treating the symptoms is to let them face discrimination up close and personal. If they are against mosques in their community, then we'll simply not allow churches as well. If they don't want gay people to get married, we'll simply ban all divorces based on their logic. It's a really simple concept.

Everything you said there is political correctness. They simply don't want to offend such and such group, so they didn't try harder to pursue the issue.

So, let's be politically correct and ignore the obvious prejudice coming from both these communities? But you're right, I won't say it into their faces. I will, however, vote every chance I get to have their rights taken away. You won't provide a social benefit by countering a social harm with more social harm. All you'll do is set back the entire equality movement. Stop playing Internet Tough Guy. Religious groups (particularly Mormons and Catholics) poured ungodly amounts of money into the Prop h8 campaign, and used plenty of time at the pulpit whipping up a frenzy of anti-gay rhetoric and absurd rationalizations that let people who otherwise support gay rights believe that they could simultaneously support gay equality and oppose gay marriage. Blacks and hispanics have a rather high percentage of their corresponding populations who adhere to religions that vehemently oppose gay marriage. It is not surprising therefor to find that a high percentage of those communities also opposed gay marriage in the Prop h8 vote. You won;t accomplish your stated goals by acting like a bigot yourself, Taz. You'll just look like another bigot. And possibly lose the support of those blacks and hispanics who do support gay equality, as they find that the gay equality movement is now tolerant of racism.

Not killing everyone that war a Nazi uniform is political correctness? Did you not read that Pol Pot was being turned over for an international tribunal? So your dogma outweighs the facts? Are you a creationist?

Who is they? What groups did "they" not want to offend? Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts

So you want to combat racism and bigotry by adding more racism and bigotry? No. I was using a brief sarcasm to a make quick point and express my outrage. Most of the citizens of United States who selfishly complain about "illegal" immigrants are descendants of and/or those who profit from the European imperialism that brutally established this country. I don't have the time to write a critique of the cultural systems of imperialism that use racism in support of their oppressive and exploitive practices. It is those cultural beliefs and institutions that I do want to combat. I'll briefly mention Michel Foucault and Derrick Jensen before I have to get back to work.
