To me, there’s no real difference between a fortune teller or a fortune cookie and any of the organized religions. They’re all equally valid or invalid, really. And equally helpful.
- Woody Allen

I've rotated a number of quotes through my "signature" over the years. The lite one that has persisted for a long time:
"Do not meddle in the affairs of cats, for they are subtle and will piss on your computer." - Bruce Graham

To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible. Thomas Aquinas
I like that one too.
Though for different reasons.
Try murmuring "in the necessity of burning Catholics" or "in the fact that Allah wants me to crash a plane into a building" or "in the fact that my neighbor should be tried for witchcraft" after both incidences of the word "faith".
Yes, no explanation is possible. And to the True Believer, none is necessary.
That's what "faith" means.

[When you search for God, y]ou can't go to the people who believe already. They've made up their minds and want to convince you of their own personal heresy.

God is not what you imagine, or what you think you understand. For if you understand, you have failed.

Kind of a long one...
quote:
Man should cease to expect aid from on high. By this time he should know that heaven has no ear to hear, and no hand to help. The present is the necessary child of all the past. There has been no chance, and there can be no interference.
If abuses are destroyed, man must destroy them. If slaves are freed, man must free them. If the naked are clothed; if the hungry are fed; if justice is done; if labor is rewarded; if superstition is driven from the mind; if the defenseless are protected and if the right finally triumphs, all must be the work of man. The grand victories of the future must be won by man, and by man alone.
-Robert G. Ingersoll

We have many intuitions in our life and the point is that many of these intuitions are wrong. The question is, are we going to test those intuitions?
-Dan Ariely

Those who say that they believe in God and yet neither love nor fear him, do not in fact believe in him but in those who have taught them that God exists. Those who believe that they believe in God, but without any passion in their heart, any anguish of mind, without uncertainty, without doubt, without an element of despair even in their consolation, believe only in the God-idea, not God.
~~~~Miguel De Unamuno~~~~
I think most "Christians" in this country merely believe in the God-Idea and in those who taught them that God exists
I don't really see your point in argueing a different take on a quote that is well over 700 years old, but you troll differently than I do.
new quote becuase I can stay on topic:
