Re: Why should it concern you if it does not affect you at all?
I won't act emotional if someone just tells me that I am thinking outside the box bounded on one end by the Big Bang and the other end by an expanding observable universe.
I will tell him in return to try thinking outside the box.

Re: Why should it concern you if it does not affect you at all?
so what do you want us scientists ant atheists to do speculate without data.
Sure Thor, Perun, Osiris, and the pink unicorn pulled together their power before the big bang and made it go bang. there is no data that they did and no data that they dint, and even no data that they exists
or you can go the universe will at one point expand so fast that it brakes the speed of light witch will cause all matter and energy to condense in one small funnel that will eventualy brake the time and place barrier and go bang 15 billion years ago at the same time and place our big bang went bang
you can speculate all you want without data or evidence but its all speculation

Re: Why should it concern you if it does not affect you at all?
But on the other hand, I am asking you, do you also adhere to the mantra that outside and beyond the Big Bang you don't know anything, or you cannot know anything, notwithstanding however the presumably above average intelligence you possess?
Well, I've just been informed by that nice Cavediver that there are theoretical models relating to pre big bang cosmology.
Does that count as thinking outside the box?
I get the feeling that 'thinking outside the box' means believing in god: am I wrong?

Usually, "thinking outside the box" just means not being constrained by the conventions of your society. And that can lead to new insight.
You do have to watch that you don't overdo it. If you think outside the editors box, your research paper is likely to be rejected.

Too often 'thinking outside the box' is used as a synonym for 'jumping to a conclusion'.

Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!
