The point was made earlier in the thread that the Bible - or more particularly your interpretation of the Bible - is what tends to drive people away from Christianity and God. I spend most of my time in Bible Study trying to help people understand that the Bible doesn't have to be as ugly as fundies paint it.

I think that's the key to this thread. Atheists are interested in discussing the Bible because they want to help people escape. You'd be a much more effective Bible teacher if you could demonstrate something in your life that people want. All you're demonstrating is chains.
