Have you seen the one about the modern hipster in the photograph from 1940?
He certainly looks out of place! Here's the full story: Forgetomori.com

I don't see anything that makes it look particularly like a phone, it look too long to my mind. I think it looks more like she is holding a purse up to hide her face from the camera. As for the talking, I don't see why she can't simply be talking to the gentleman who disappeared off-screen as she checks to see if she is still in the camera's line of sight.
I really doubt that not one out of more than a hundred people could offer an alternative explanation, it seems far more likely that he just wont accept any alternative explanation over what he truly believes he is seeing. TTFN, WK

I don't see anything at all in her hand, but it begs the question of why a time traveller would attempt to use a cell phone in the 1920's. What is it going to connect to?

Someone talking on a cell phone in 1928?
When there were no other cell phones to talk to. When there were no cell towers to transmit a signal. Makes perfect sense to me. Of course, it could always be a futuristic cell phone that communicates to the future by some unknown technology. In which case there's no particular reason to suppose it would look like a cell phone. So, someone went to the trouble to dress in period clothing when they went back into the past with their time machine, then used technology from 100 years in the future and did it in front of a camera, recording it for all posterity. Makes perfect sense to me. Then it's definitely faked. In TOS, the communicator was held out in front. In TNG, it was just the emblem on the front of the uniform. None of the various incarnations used a communication device held up to one's head.

"Nobody can give me an explanation," is the theme song of the True Believer™. It translates as, "I won't accept any reasonable explanation."
A better explanation than "time traveller" would be "crazy lady who thinks she has a mobile phone". "It appears that many of you turn to Hebrew to escape the English...." -- Joseppi

None of the various incarnations used a communication device held up to one's head. Negative. Spock would, especially in the first season.

Only watched the latest reboot, which I tremendously enjoy. I thought the stuff from the 60s and 70s was unbearably flaky.
