Start an Appropriate Thread Or Leave Things Be
Back to your humorless gimp mode again I see. Personally I don't see what else there is to say. But you obviously feel that you have something left to prove. That's fine. I'll play along if you really want me to.
If you are utterly determined to kick off again you can start by tackling some of the posts you have selectively ignored in favour of your imbecilic straw man "Straggler says people make things up therefore everything Straggler disagrees with must be made up". Maybe have a look at - This Message 499; this Message 436 and this from way way back when Message 175
RAZD writes:
What we agree is that objective evidence exists, it just doesn't necessarily apply to your position,
Are you are now claiming that the existence of gods is supported by objective evidence in some way? If not what position would you say the objectively evidenced context of human history, culture/anthropology and psychology does support? If you are determined to answer this start an appropriate thread RAZ.
And how are those faith based agnostic opinions of yours holding up by the way?
RAZ writes:
I could say that your apparent inability to see\understand\recognize this simple set of facts earns you the blind-atheist oscar, and award of equal value to the blind-theist oscar (whatever? johnjohn10:10 etc?)
Is that your paltry way of making your post superficailly "on topic"? Why even bother pretending?
You and I are never gonna agree. Frankly I feel that you are so determined to "prove" that your own beliefs don't fly in the face of the available evidence that you will go to almost any length to try and convince yourself (and others) of this. But frankly I just don't think you have anything very interesting to say anymore.

The whole rhyme thing was a piss take of everything. Including my punk-ass wigga middle aged grasping at lost youth wannabe Eminem self.
But I must admit to still being utterly bemused as to what possible context dogs and gods could be equally evidenced?
If you feel slighted and wanna explain here feel free to do so in reply and I won't come back on it at all. You can take a free hit so to speak.

Thank you too, for making my day.
I know it took a lot of time.
You did it well and made it rhyme.

Re: Start an Appropriate Thread Or Leave Things Be
Oh boo hoo, Straggler. Tell me another sob story.
If you are utterly determined to kick off again you can start by tackling some of the posts you have selectively ignored in favour of your imbecilic straw man "Straggler says people make things up therefore everything Straggler disagrees with must be made up".
Which, curiously is a straw man version of the real argument, the one that refutes your position because it is based on logical fallacy after logical fallacy, and which you continue to ignore while making more pointless irrelevant posts.
But frankly I just don't think you have anything very interesting to say anymore.
Yep, another amusing example of cognitive dissonance and dismissal of contradictory information.
Back to your humorless gimp mode again I see.
No, I find your position increasingly hilarious: all you are left with are quips, misquotes, and denial.
You and I are never gonna agree.
Because you cannot see where and why you are wrong. Where and why the "objectively evidenced context of human history, culture/anthropology and psychology" does not support your position, except by your wishful thinking and pre-assumption that you are correct. Where and why it provides you with nothing more than a possibility of being correct.
And how are those faith based agnostic opinions of yours holding up by the way?
Which exemplifies your lack of understanding. Your position is faith based agnostic plus pseudoskeptic assumption of conclusions that contradicted by the logic analysis of your position.
Not that you have not addressed the issue of the logical failures of your position, and all you have done is repeat your already falsified position/s. Calling it a "silly formula" is not debate, nor refutation, that is blind ideology.
Nor have you been able to establish that you are anything but a pseudoskeptic.
... start an appropriate thread RAZ.
I'm working on one, but it's not for (about) you (sorry - I know you're so vain about your opinions).
Enjoy.

Re: Forum Oscars - The Rebirth?
Hello again forum fans. Yes it is nearly the end of the year (ish) and yet again it is (sort of) time for this years Forum Oscars. With the return of so many past participants maybe we can shake things up a tad.
Last year turned into a rhyme-fest. Could this year turn into another expose of EvC creative talent? Any caricaturists out there? The mind boggles.
The proposed categories (from past years) are:
A) Hardcore creationist
B) Pragmatic believer
C) Pragmatic disbeliever
D) Rampant atheist
But this was broadened to the following by RAZD:
(B) Pragmatic believer:
(C) Pragmatic disbeliever:
(D) Rampant atheist:
(E) Open-minded skeptic:
(F) A category on his own:
(G) The third side of the argument:
(H) Horse rider (and dead horse flogger):
(I) Most missed:
There were also some social type categories ("ardent liberal", "crazed conservative" etc. etc.) that I can't find now because I have a had a few too many glasses of Shiraz.
Buuurp.
Straggler writes:

In other words "do what you will". Ignore as pointless rubbish or highlight the people you think have contributed greatly in whatever "category" you choose to define. The choice is yours.
I will reveal my own deeply subjective opinions if this gets any sort of response at all.

The Nominations Are...
Here are my noms for this year:
Hardcore creationist: Sleveseque is a creationist who seems far too sensible to be a creationist. But he does a pretty good job of arguing the impossible.
Pragmatic believer: Phat. For being pragmatic. And a believer. And funny with it.
Pragmatic disbeliever: I am gonna say Mod. He is no less of a non-believer than many others. But does it in a more pragmatic way. More respectful and less zealous than some others (**ahem - points at self**) I could mention.
Rampant atheist: It has to be bluegenes this year. He is succeeding where many before him have tried. The rabbit is out of the hat......
Open-minded skeptic: How about Hyro? Onetime Nemesis Juggernaut of creationism and now weary lifejacket wearing agnostic. Just for the revelation of his secret identity alone he deserves a mention somewhere.
A category on his own: Wounded King. Just because..... I dunno. I guess that is the point of this category.
The third side of the argument: Purpledawn for being 3 dimensional.
Horse rider (and dead horse flogger): Xongsmith has taken over the mantle of pink unicorn flogger from me. For someone to make even me tired of the IPU was something I just didn't see coming.
Most missed: This is surely an opportunity to say welcome back to all those recently returned.

Do you really think you have a chance against the likes of DB and Dennis Markuze?
Next you'll be saying that Miley Cyrus will get Best Actress for her sterling work in High School Musical 2 as 'girl at pool'.

Re: Oscar Poem Heads Up
Heads up, folks, for a read or reread of EvC's all time poetry Oscar by member Straggler. If you've never read this, read it. If you've read it, enjoy again! Message 109
Straggler, how long did it take for you to compose this gem? Was it a burst of inspiration or a time consuming thought process?

Cheers (again!) Buz. As I recall I wandered round my daily life with a scribble pad in my back pocket for a couple of days and everytime I thought of something that made me internally chuckle I noted it down. I remember that I missed my floor in the work lifts (elevators to you) at least once as I scribbled frantically and lost track of where I was.
Then I sat and typed it out and compiled it in an EvC post in about half an hour, adding bits as I went.
You asked.....
Anway enough of all that. Buz - Your nominations for this year please!!
