And trade in those dogs for cats.
There are hardly any more mice around in their whole hunting area. And you want me to get more cats?
You're a person whose "shift" keys apparently usually don't function. That key between the "," and the "/" keys seems to often also have problems.
No they do function i just don't press them that often, what key do you mean . it is between , and -. Again purely my fault, for some reason i have a hard time using it on forums i have no problem whit it anywhere else.
You also seem prone to doing a lot of trite and/or low substance messages, such as the very recently posted this and this.
Il try no to do that.

Re: CAT a strophic
As for Frako, he probably is of the current generation that was never required to actually learn how to type properly (nor was I...I hunt and peck to this day at 40 words per minute...) but with all of those pets running around the house, I am impressed that all of his keys are even in his keyboard!
The sad part is i actualy know how to write "blind" or as you say properly though for some reason i do not write capitals or dots "." on forums.
When i studied economics one of the classes was "blind" writing, it is actualy not that hard and i had a grade of 4 from 1 meaning failed and 5 being the best. Testing was on a program that gave you what you have to spell and mesured the time it took you and the number of false keystrokes you made. the keyboard was covered whit a box like thinkgy so you could not see the keys.
back on topic
Is there even such a thing as a cat obedience school? I would say that cats are the epitome of the concept of free will!
You can actualy train a cat as you would a dog though it takes much more time. And since they lack the desire that dogs have to please their master you have to use food to make him do what you want.
I had one cat trained to jump on my shoulder on command, and all the cats to "rub my chin whit their heads" if they want to get any food only one hasto do it and i give it to them. Though the strange part is that i only trained the mother of these cats a verry long time ago, she passed away, though she somehow taught the skill to her kids.

We creationists tend to serve the interest of our owner, acknowledging and pleasing him, as he trains us. He protects us and provides our needs.

Re: All Dogs Go to Heaven, All Cats Get to Vote
Is that why most dogs serve no purpose other than to stroke the ego of the owner, while any worthwhile cat earns its living by destroying vermin?
Well one of my first dogs was fanatic about catching "voluhars" (dunno the translation a large mouse like creature that eats the roots of treas, and anything else you might have planted in his territory )

Re: Podgy
Now I have to fend them both off at 4am in morning when they are walking back and forth over my head as I slumber demanding rxtra rations (I've put them on a diet).
What's really galling is that before we got the pair we were plagued with mice and I had images of dashing cats slaying the vermin left, right and centre: not one mouse has shown it's face since the cats moved in.
Fun fact: Hungry house cats do not catch mice

Re: Podgy
I did not know that hungry cats don't hunt: that seems counter intuitive.
Strange tough almost true, it is a saying in Slovenia and it was probably made by an observation that right after you feed your cat it goes out hunting. A hungry cat will go hunting because it does not want to die of starvation, tough a fed cat will usually go hunting after a meal.
Cats are often accused of being surplus killers because they hunt and kill even when they aren’t hungry. It’s true that hunger and the desire to hunt are two separate motivations for cats. In fact, a pet cat will often go hunting right after eating. Some experts believe that cats crave variety in their diet, and this motivates them to hunt. However, no one has proved that providing your cat with a varied diet will curb her hunting behavior.

Re: Podgy
Unfortunately the cats can only get mice when they come out of hiding in a house. They have to wait for the mice to get careless.
Strange your cats do not go out on the field and sit by a mouse hole until the mouse comes out.

Re: Podgy
What is most sriking is that there have been no mice at all in our house since they arrived.
I reckon the smell of urine from the litter tray keeps them away. This also means no toxoplasma ghondii in the area if the mice keep away.
Well duuh, would you live in a house where a tyrannosaurus Rex, was hunting you.
Tough yes mice "hate" the smell of cats unless they are infected by toxoplasma ghondii they instinctively run from places that have cat smell.

Re: Podgy
Now we have the young cat outside and the chippies aren't as cocky anymore.
Hehe well i have a cocky bird problem lol, the birds fly right over the head of the cat and X amount of times the bird gets a laugh and the cats look stupid tough it only takes one case of bad luck and the laughter of the birds cases. And one would think the other birds would learn from this and stop agitating the cats no, the same story everyday.

In my experience of dogs, they don't know whether they've pleased me or displeased me, and there is apparently no way for me to communicate this to them.
Haha i think you have a different problem then communication. I think your dog thinks he is the boss/alpha, this happens allot when dog owners do not know what they are doing. If you can get a dog to accept you as an alpha/master/owner there is nothing you cant teach them or unteach them.
However, they do slobber all over me in an apparent attempt to please me, which displeases me intensely and is one of the reasons that I prefer cats.
Well if you do not like being slobbered then you have to train your dog to treat you differently.
I usually start with a simple command, when i snap my fingers i communicate to them attention. Once a dog learns that it is relatively easy to train them further because every time i snap my fingers the dogs know i want something from them so they stop what they are doing and look towards me for further instruction. This also helps if you do not like to raise your voice. One of my dogs was very hyperactive when i got her she would always jump all over me when i came home, at first i had to snap my fingers for her to stop soon all she did was sit down in front of the door so i would pet her before going in to the house.

I think that would be a vole.
I think so too and i learned a new word today
My dogs get a few a week during the summer. My dogs are the best mousers I have ever known.
Ever had a dog that ate carrots. I have one tough he never digs them up if he finds one uprooted or if one should fall to the floor in the kitchen it is gone in seconds.

Re: All Dogs Go to Heaven, All Cats Get to Vote
Oh they joy of being a dog owner.
Hehe my dogs catch deer well my collie does. And if i am lucky enough i can still take the deer from him before it is completely dead so i can bleed it skin it and eat it myself. The only problem is i cant let a hunter see me or i will pay a fine for illegal hunting lol. Our forest animals are way too protected even the hunters cant kill enough because of the laws written by paper pushers who do not know or will not know the actual situation. So the numbers of deer, boar, bear... go up every year. Hopefully the new wolf population that has been reintegrated will help keep the numbers stable.

Don't ever feed them eggs.
A mix breed that i have keeps stealing eggs from my neighbors chickens all it did was make her fur more shiny.
