The short question:
How do I obtain(measure) and verify the truth of supernatural events that are openly talked about in modern holy books?
---------------------
Many adult Christians I speak with believe that the garden of Eden is a completely fictional story. However, they believe the resurrection was not
Some Christians laugh at the flood but believe god tortured job.
Some Christians laugh about god turning someone into salt but believe a father offered his child to angels(for sex)
I hear people say this is a story, this is a poem, that is this and that is that. That is all fine and dandy but what method or model should I use when trying to determine what events in the bible are factual and which are fictional?
What method/model do you use? How do you know it is right?
Equally as important to me can this method/model be applied to the Qu'ran, Book of Mormon, Book of the dead or B'Gita? If it can it obviously demonstrates that all other books except for the bible are lies - correct? Or does each book which talks about God(s) require a unique method - if so why?

Not Consistent
Your title deals with reading the Bible, not verifying supernatural events.
Your question asks how to verify supernatural events mentioned in holy books, but the rest of the thread deals with people believing one part of the Bible as real but not another.
Then you want to know how to determine what events in the Bible are factual and which are fictional.
Please make up your mind what you wish to discuss.
If you do wish to discuss how one should verify supernatural events in holy books, I suggest you present how you verify whether events mentioned in any other books actually happened or not.
Not inclined to promote as written.
