Does the Darwinian theory require modification or replacement?

I agree with shadow71 here that, hypothetically speaking, if mutations were to be shown to be none-random in that outside stimuli can produce the right mutations for adaptation, this would be a much more profound change to the fundamentals of the theory then pretty much everything since the synthesis.This is because you effectively touch upon one of the two basic principles.
