Straight forward and elegant! If Bob does not get it, then there is no hope that he will understand anything.
Well done Bluejay!

GDR on a Christian Approach to Adversity
GDR is not someone who I agree with about.... well anything much at all.
But his post to Buz in the "Thuglicans" and the Tea "Federation Party" thread is really good. Highlighting the similarity of views and background he shares with Buz whilst advocating a very different approach to that taken by Buz on the issue in question.
Credit where credit is due.

Wholeheartedly seconded. Those are some genuine Christian principles that I can fully agree with.

Thirded! I almost wrote a reply to him stating that while I disagreed with his theology, I wholeheartedly supported his philosophy.

dwise1 at "Creationism in science classrooms (an argument for)"
Author: dwise1
Forum: Education and Creation/Evolution
Thread: Creationism in science classrooms (an argument for)
Message #: 323
dwise1 writes:
If you base your religious ideas on false claims about the physical world, claims that are both contrary-to-fact and refuted by the evidence, then the mere existence of that evidence is what shows your ideas to be wrong. And when science classes present that evidence, it is not for the purpose of teaching that religious ideas are wrong, but rather because presenting and discussing the evidence is a rightful purpose of science education.
And more, calmly and without snark.

And three days without "rebuttal". On a weekend. Reminds me of a letter to the editor I once wrote about a long string of letters about public school prayer and the posting of the Ten Commandments. Completely killed all such letters for the next few years.

dwise, very well written! In my opinion no valid rebuttal exists.

GDR is on a Roll
Thread: Coffee House
Post: Re: Japan being punished by God
Message 53
GDR in his usual kind way lays out the situation. An underrated poster IMHO, and a great argument for Christianity. I only wish others such as myself, were so gentle and knowledgeable as GDR.
Edited by anglagard, : Remove any impression of self-righteousness

The idea of the sacred is quite simply one of the most conservative notions in any culture, because it seeks to turn other ideas - uncertainty, progress, change - into crimes.
Salman Rushdie
This rudderless world is not shaped by vague metaphysical forces. It is not God who kills the children. Not fate that butchers them or destiny that feeds them to the dogs. It’s us. Only us. - the character Rorschach in Watchmen

I don't know about an argument for Christianity, but I'll certainly second the nomination and add that I wish more Christians were like GDR. It's refreshing to have such significant reminders that not all Christians are like Buzsaw.
