Re: why the fuck should arach be suspended for not using fucking capitals????
'cause
AbE:
I really think this subject deserves discussion, not in relation to spidey's suspension, but as a general thread.
I do find it hard to read posts that are all lowercase. However, when the content is worthwhile I will gladly invest the extra effort needed.
We have few members here that actually have the Biblical and Hebrew knowledge shown by spidey. I cannot remember a single exchange with him where I did not come away with some new insight, new understanding, new pathway to explore.
Moose seems to really get bugged by form and also brevity, but in many cases I find that the content far outweighs any inconvenience and that often brevity is the best possible response.
But Moose has the power.

just in case ...
There are many similar usernames. I am jar, not Jar although JAR or J.A.R. might also be appropriate. It also depends on the medium, for example on a signet ring jRa might be most often seen.

towards some topic
The goal, if there was some goal beyond trying to satisfy a whim of da moose, was to try to illustrate some of the problems non english speakers might have with what we so jokingly call our language. Read aloud, the paragraph in the OP is almost correct and grammatical. As written it is giberish; word salad.

Re: Moose Didn't Know + Brevity = Suspension
What a teacher tells you and what YOU learn on your own are quite different. Those that did not know about the Canary Island threat and did take the effort to look it up will very likely retain the knowledge far longer than those who were simply instructed.
The Coffee House is a place for discussion, not debate.
I personally find succinct preferable to verbose and brevity preferable to endless banter.
It looks like I helped a Moose learn two new things, and honestly, teaching an old moose new things is something to really be proud of.
So now I will attempt to teach an old Moose yet another new thing.
Posts that do not contain links cannot be a violation of Rule 5 that prohibits bare links.
Let me repeat this for the old Moose.
A post that does not have any links in it cannot be said to have bare links.
Next trite and without substance. I'm not quite sure how a blackout that effected much of the Northeast US and lots of Canada could be considered trite or without substance. Also, calling a potential tsunami that would effect all of the East coast of the US and Canada as well as parts of South America and Europe trite seems to me to be understating the issue.
Finally, let me address the fact that the posts were short, one liners.
In the first instance I was responding to a one line message, in the latter though I was responding to a multi-line post I will admit. Perhaps Mark Twain was wrong and I should use the word Metropolis even though I get paid the same for city.
However both posts were on topic, pertinent, introduced information that at least one Moose did not know or did not recognize.
Over the years I have had lot's of suspensions, a few that I even thought were deserved, but only once was I prouder of any suspensions than of these two. Fortunately or unfortunately, the number of suspensions still lags behind the number of POTMs, but I will try to build towards a balance.

Very droll.........
But - You genuinely keep count......?
No need to count yet. POTMs are a dime a dozen it seems. Hell I think I've even gotten POTMs for links to old posts that got POTMs.

A discussion is not formal, not necessarily on a set subject, has greater freedom in format and presentation.
Debates are general more organized, with a very tightly set subject and procedures.

Re: Barer than bare links
Sorry, but I looked in the rules and found no references to implied bare links.
But you did go look, even though you did not learn the whole lesson, I would give you at least partial credit, say a "c".
Now is the risk posed by Cumbre Vieja only related to an eruption of the volcano?

Re: Buzsaw Banned From Biblically Related Threads
Honestly Buz, you have never presented any evidence, never shown that you even know what evidence is, never shown that you have even read the Bible, never shown that you know the difference between TESTIFY (all you have ever presented) and evidence (what you have never presented).
But I still think you should be allowed to continue to post such nonsense.
Every board needs a Simplicio so that Sagredo can compare the arguments to those of Salviati.
And then you continue to assert that it is a conflict between "secularist" and "Theists" which of course is also just more misrepresentation just as claiming that Lennart Mller presented evidence and not just "Testify" is just misrepresentation.

Re: Buzsaw Banned From Biblically Related Threads
Buz, if you presented any such evidence there would be no choice except to accept it.
That is one of the big difference in positions.
A reasonable person says "If the evidence refutes my belief then I must abandon that belief."
If you actually presented evidence that the Exodus happened, then I and others would say "Yup, it appears that it did."
However, even if the Exodus was a real historical fact, that still provides no support for any supernatural critter.
Evidence does not support anything beyond the facts in question.

Re: Some thoughts on my recent controversial admin actions
Yes, creationists definitely need to be protected and allowed far greater latitude when it comes to attacking the individual instead of the argument and even personal attacks.
I had no problem with your actions.
I do think it was funny that in a thread where the topic was about possible evidence that would support the Biblical account my presentation of just such a possible evidence was one you selected to sanction.
Or maybe you just don't think that the genetic bottleneck signature that would result from an event as described in the two different flood stories would help support the Biblical account.
