I love KUMD. Since I moved to Cumberland I only get to listen to it online or when I go up to Duluth/Superior area.

It is not often that we get to observe the story-line of the creative process being shaped by someone looking as if she were only on the sidelines, but if there was anyone who may have tangentially altered the course of recent history in a more amazing way, it was the now, sadly late, Suze Rotolo. Suze may have been rudely discarded by Bob's own callous pushing on towards the Light of Stardom, but we, the world at large, are all so much the luckier to have all the songs she inspired and also a great sense of the power of the artistic movement in the 60's.
For those of you in the dark, she appears on the cover of Bob's Freewheeling Bob Dylan album, clutching onto him in the vicious cold New York winter, exuding a smile that gave us all, at the time when we were young, the sense that anything was possible....... 50-60 songs easy. - xongsmith, 5.7d

RIP, Jane Russell.
My dad carried you through the WWII Pacific theater and back home again to Indiana, where you curled up inside the lid of his toolbox, where Mom wouldn't see you. What a babe. In Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Jane Russell stole the show from Marilyn Monroe - no small feat.

Earlier this weekend I had been browsing through the first Rolling Stone Record Guide (the red one), and I encountered the album jacket for "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan". I wondered who the woman was - Now I find out.
A couple of Suze Rotolo links:Suze Rotolo - Wikipedia Page not found – Rolling Stone Dylan related post here. Sad indeed. Him & Allison were a very feared back-to-back threat for many years. Salute! Harmon was the big bat those years. Mudcat, Oliva, Kaat...it was still Harmon's team.

Killer's hometown was only a few miles away from where I grew up. He will be missed. Not only did he have a huge bat, he had a big heart as well. He was always a class act, even during his last days. Baseball lost a great one.

Outside of Target Field, they have bronze statues of Twins greats. Killebrew had his statue
modeled after the home run he hit in the 1965 All Star game at Met Stadium, the first home of the Twins. This picture
He had the most home runs during the '60s, and at the time of his retirement, only Babe Ruth had more home runs per at bat than Killer. I never liked the E Street Band as much after the music became popular, but I always respected the saxophonic sound that defined the music.
