I've seen this feature at other boards, but only as a list of positions where members check one. Something along these lines is on the todo list. The way I would do this would be to have a list of canned positions with an "Other" at the bottom where one could describe their position in as much detail as they like.

The predefined positions would be settable through the control panel.
