Um, Buz,"Occultist" and "a cultist" are two different words. A cultist is a member of a cult, which (as you say) refers to a religious movement that is outside the mainstream. Occult is from the Latin for "shadowed", and generally refers to any practice which is deliberately kept secret or clandestine.These are two very different things.
