quick response this time.
quote:
The article provides the authors' affiliation, so it's up to you to check if you have doubts about that.

Most journals provide little information on the peer reviewers even for today's papers.

The authors explain their methodology, which was standards for design of ships in their navy. If you have any problems, then you are welcome to submit criticisms.

Regards

(Dr) Jonathan Sarfati

Notice how he put the Dr on this response. Think maybe he is trying to intimidate me with his expertise?

Basically, the "journal" has no info on this article other than what the article states. We need to take it on blind faith that it was in fact reviewed prior to publication by people familiar with the subject. I guess for this journal it doesn't mean people familiar with engineering, but rather people familiar with apologetics.

Gee sleve, it takes you a month to get a response. Funny how an atheist can get a response within a day. Just yanking your chain. You prob get a response today too.

Someone here must know some engineers and by extension some engineers familiar with marine applications. I would like to get a legitimate review of the article.

Should I blindly email some engineering depts at Universitys that have engineering schools that deal with marine aspects?

Re: Reviewing Standards of the Technical Journal
This is also telling.
quote:
Because the scope of this journal is broad, we welcome articles on any topic that is relevant to biblical creation. This includes the sciences such as geology, chemistry, biology, astronomy, etc., and also archaeology, theology, hermeneutics, biblical history, geography, linguistics, ethics and society, philosophy, law, etc.

Journal of Creation writing guidelines

They accept anything as long as it deals with biblical creation. I have a feeling the same editor that reviews articles on chemistry also reviews articles on law. I mean why wouldn't it be the same editor. The only important thing is that it matches the apologetics and doctrine of the magazine.

Re: quick response this time.
I would not make to much of the Dr. adding his title. You did call him Mr. in your email, when it would have been fairly easy to check.

Why would he expect me to know his credentials? That in itself is fairly pompous.

I know a few Dr's, medical and PHD's. The only ones that would point out in a situation like this that they were Dr's are the assholes.

In his original response he signed it as Jonathan Sarfati. In his second email he went out of his way to highlight Dr. It was obviously an attempt to try to make the impression of expertise and authority and possibly an attempt to try to be intimidating. If not why would he do it like this

Re: design issues not a problem
It may surprise you to know that wood is stronger than steel on a pound for pound basis in the direction of the fibers.

Which actually means nothing in this discussion, and I would love to see the data to support this assertion. I have searched the web and have found no evidence for this.

quote:
As a rule of thumb, aluminum is three times heavier, but also three times stronger than wood. Steel is again three times heavier and stronger than aluminum.

http://www.zenithair.com/kit-data/ht-85-12.html

So you need 3 times as much wood to equal strength of steel. That is an awful lot of wood.

Re: design issues not a problem
Sorry, but I just don't think this line of argument is persuasive.

Unless someone can provide info from actual marine engineers.

This whole post of yours deals with steel not wood. There is a lot more at play here than just inherent strength. I am still waiting for you to show evidence that pound for pound wood is stronger than steel. I am not going to take your word for it.

This vessel is ~3 times the length of the purported ark, and so would need to be 9 times as strong for the same longitudinal bending stress, thus the purported ark could have structure about the same as the steel structure in this ship.

Please show your workings for these assertions.

Art Bell? Art fucking Bell? are you serious?

Can you tell us anything about the author John Zajac? Anything about him so we can determine whether he is someone that we should listen to? Amazing that there are no references isn't it.

WOOOOOOOOOOO
Page 2 is even more exciting. Here is the final paragraph.

quote:
Could the builder of the Great Pyramid be a space visitor from another planet? Possibly, if we focus on his advanced knowledge. However, being able to see and/or control the future precisely is what we would recognize as supernatural. Dedication of the interior of the Pyramid to the history of the Jews, prophecy, and especially to the life and death of Christ indicates that the Pyramid must have been designed and built with Supernatural help as a prophetic monument able to endure through the ages, despite millennia of natural and man-made assaults against it.

Are you fricking serious? And Percy made you a mod. That ought to be interesting.

I had no idea it was a publication from Art Bell.

You missed the whole copyright thing right under the title and subtitle?

Re: Not seeing is believing
There are other cases of colossally huge stones perfectly fitted together centuries ago which still exist and surpass the technical know-how of modern man (in South America).

Maybe you would want to show this. That way we can determine on out own if your are flinging BS or not. I for one do not believe such a thing exists, but if you could provide the evidence maybe I can be convinced.

Ark a bust?
AiG email to Tourism Cabinet reveals delay in Ark Park groundbreaking, slow fundraising

Gee I thought it was supposed to be $150 million dollar project. They only have $4 million? This is pretty laughable. They don't even own all the property yet.

quote:
Their groundbreaking was pushed back from spring, to summer, to fall, and the most recent media report was to next spring. Meanwhile, their fundraising goal of $24.5 million appears to have ground to a halt at just over $4 million, where it has been for quite a while. They had reached the $3 million mark all the way back in May.

LEO Weekly contacted our good friend at Answers in Genesis, Senior Vice President Mike Zovath, for a status update on groundbreaking and fundraising for Ark Encounter, but he sadly did not return our calls.

Not returning calls from reporters? Not a good sign.
