I had a debate with my roommate today over whether we are born with a moral compass or whether morality is purely a social construct. I know this does not directly pertain to evolution, but it's a common creationist argument that I haven't really found any information on. Any thoughts?

This is not, I'm afraid, a debate proposal. As interesting as I find the subject, I can't really promote this. If you are interested in learning more, the debate is often boiled down to 'nature versus nurture' when it is being debated in a secular context (in general, the consensus is 'both'). In the EvC context it is generally 'absolute vs relative'.
If you still want to debate your topic here, do a couple of hours of reading around these topics (and there are a few threads here you might look at, for instance Morality is a Logical Consequence of Evolution, not Creation, or maybe Morality! Thorn in Darwin's side or not?), and then use that to stake a position for yourself - or at least present the different views that you have found out there for debate.
