There are lots of historical accounts from lots of places outside the bible which talks about characters and events of the bible that were happening at that time.

Huckleberry Finn has the same thing - reference to events that were really happening at the time that it's set. Guess what? It's still fiction. The veracity of historical background in the Bible doesn't make it true, it makes it historical fiction.
