I wonder, if and what effect , these last words of Jobs had on the members of this Forum
On this one? None whatsoever, save that I'm heartened when any human being avoids dying in pain or discomfort.
And I'm surprised that it would have an effect on you. Regardless of what you may believe about the existence of an afterlife:
1) You can't believe that Steve Jobs was seeing heaven, because he rejected the divinity and salvation of Christ and therefore under your church's doctrine was destined for Hell, and
2) The notion that the living - even the only barely living - can peer into God's realm of the afterlife is a deeply occult and therefore anti-Catholic doctrine.
Probably what was happening is that Jobs was experiencing anoxic euphoria as a result of respiratory arrest (his actual cause of death.) It's nice, I guess, to believe that Jobs was "crossing over" into a blessed Hereafter, but I don't understand how you reconcile that with your faith.
