Taz, why don't you just sit this one out, maybe, if you have all these misgivings? Remember the line, "when you can fake sincerity, the rest just flows easy." Or something like that.
Shoot, sounds like the best Republican in the field for you is Barack Hussein Obama. Talk about faking sincerity to the max. He has secretly caved in to the Republicans more than any of his voters ever thought was possible & held off at a stiffarms length the whiny complaints from the noble left.
This has been a great run for the Republican point of view in the country for the last 31 years.

I used to not like Obama. Disgruntled Hillary supporter here. But as time went on, I found myself more and more in agreement with Obama. As a matter of fact, I think he got the conservatives right where he wants them. As a matter of fact, I saw this trap last year and even mentioned it several times.
Obama is a different kind of liberal. One that I am now proud to say I'm a supporter of.
And no, I'm not going to explain myself further. Just wait and see.

For myself, "sincere" is not a word I can associate with Gingrich. I am thinking now of his private life. I am ready to forgive politicians their human failings, but Gingrich's failings barely pass as human. The man is a monster.

Who is your least hated candidate among the republicans?
Jon Huntsman.
Of course, two days after I say that, Jon Huntsman basically abdicates any claim to being a reasonable human being:
quote:
Jon Huntsman Flip-Flops On Climate Change
Jon Huntsman used to believe climate change is real. Now he’s not so sure.
In a move that’s sure to endear him to the conservatives who are starting to warm up to the former Utah governor, Huntsman said Tuesday under questioning from TPM that he now believes there’s more debate yet to play out before we can be sure climate change is really happening.
That’s certainly not the way Huntsman sounded waaay back in August, when he famously tweeted:
To be clear, I believe in evolution and trust scientists on global warming. Call me crazy. That was part of an organized effort by Huntsman to be the sane one when it came to climate science.

It's a good thing Obama is so awesome, because I wouldn't vote for any of the GOP clowns for dogcatcher, unless I wanted to be sure that my neighborhood was overrun by wild dogs.

Yes it's real. Why does it surprise you? He defends his position with Wolf Blitzer:

it just sounded funny to me, and I tend to be very suspicious of most media things I see whether they be in print or video.
his defense is pretty good though, I can see why he is a politician.

RP and the new Military Defense bill
Ron Paul has earned a bit of my respect as being, so far, the biggest name to come out in opposition to this bill.
Paul writes:
This is a giant step — this should be the biggest news going right now — literally legalizing martial law, said Paul. The congressman from Texas also appeared flabbergasted that the bill managed to escape discussion in any of the recent GOP debates, despite its provisions being detrimental to the US Constitution and the freedom of every man, woman and child in America.
I highly recommend every last one of you (well, you yanks anyways) look into this bill since it is giving Uncle Sam the right to lock your ass up indefinitely with NO trial....
Paul writes:
This is big, continued Paul, adding This step where they can literally arrest American citizens and put them away without trial.is arrogant and bold and dangerous.
And before this turns into Conservative vs. Liberal: the vote was damn near UNANIMOUS in favor of this bill. This will affect every one of us, donkey or elephant.

Self-Declared Non-Witch Endorses Romney
Yes, Christine O'Donnell, national treasure, I'll read that again, national laughing stock, has surprised the Tea Party faithful by endorsing Mitt Romney. Asked about his habit of disagreeing vehemently with himself about everything, she said she likes him "because he’s been consistent since he changed his mind". Actual, non-made-up quote, people.
In other news, Newt Gingrich is still a giant douche.

Good for him. He's not against gays in the military. He wants to go back to what worked very well for both gays and straight i.e. don't ask, don't tell. GIs will, by and large find two gay men soldiers making love, kissing, etc in the trenches and around the bases repulsive and demoralizing.
