I seriously doubt he has anything to offer.

POTM in Essential Links
Somebody needs to fix "Essential Links". It lists POTM for February and earlier.
My suggestion would be to just make it a link to the POTM forum, and skip the individual months. That way, "Essential Links" won't need updating every month.

Phat Off-topic in Did Jesus Exist?
Could we, please, get some off-topic warnings in my thread for Phat's post and the replies to it? They have nothing to do with the book being discussed.

Reopen "Hi" thread
Can we please reopen the "Hi" thread? It's in the coffee house, and I can't imagine a much more vague topic than "Hi," and the thread has now been closed despite some very interesting conversation. Isn't the coffee house supposed to have a very low level of moderation? Why was this closed in the first place?

The human understanding when it has once adopted an opinion (either as being the received opinion or as being agreeable to itself) draws all things else to support and agree with it.
- Francis Bacon
"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs." - John Rogers
A world that can be explained even with bad reasons is a familiar world. But, on the other hand, in a universe suddenly divested of illusions and lights, man feels an alien, a stranger. His exile is without remedy since he is deprived of the memory of a lost home or the hope of a promised land. This divorce between man and his life, the actor and his setting, is properly the feeling of absurdity. — Albert Camus

Re: Reopen "Hi" thread
The thread's not closed, but the last message is from AdminPhat who says he's closing it. I don't know what his intentions were. He may even have closed it for a while and then reopened it, there's no way to know since we don't maintain a history of those kinds of actions.
Anyway, you shouldn't have any difficulty posting to that thread.

I've never seen a spammer edit their post, perhaps I misjudged and he/she is just a confused newbie

My first impression was of a confused newbie. I have not found a reason to revise that impression.

Something weird
Hey, Am I the only one who sees the "Forum Oscars" link in Message 4 as being set lower on the line than the rest of the sentence?
Edit: I think I have identified the reasson. Seems to be connected to the smilie I put at the end.
