When I was in the Navy I had a shipmate named Walter Dick. He was dating a girl named Anita. As far as I know, they never got married.

Funny military names
When I was in tech school we were in class with the Seabees. One of the female Seamen there had the last name of Swallows. So she was Seamen Swallows. I still laugh about that to this day. That and every time I see a commisioned officer with the last name of Wood. You know somewhere along the line they are gonna be Major Wood.

In that same vein, I was in the Army and knew a Major Moron.
I also knew a Major Bozo.

The english Joy, is a name in Denmark too, though it is just as stupid as the danish Fryd.
I like Fryd. I'm going to name my next five children Fryd.
I also like Joy. And Faith, Hope and Charity (which reminds me of a Benny Hill routine about Fait, Ope and Carity....)

A Cherokee Highway Patrolman in Oklahoma with the last name Sixkiller. I suspect the people he stopped for speeding got quiet when they saw his badge.

Re: Funny military names
Remembering back three decades, Major Hassle was on an IG team. For the sake of civilian lurkers, the Inspector General (IG) visits and inspects units periodically to ensure that they are following all procedures correctly; admin usually gets hit especially hard.

My parents once worked with a banker named Linda Dollar (I'm not lying).
I met a guy whose last name is "Elder." He was a Mormon, so, when he was serving his mission, he was "Elder Elder." I also knew an Elder Young.

It doesn't have the comedy value of the puns listed so far, but for sheer absurdity the worst name on the planet belongs to poor old 'Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii'. She actually won a legal battle with her parents to get herself declared a ward of the state, in order that she could legally change her name against her parent's will.

Almost forgot...
I'll look it up when I get home, and post the link, but the papers here ran a piece a few years ago about a baby whose parents had named him Drew Peacock.
