Summary
Paranoid lunatics are, of course, funny. But they'd be funnier if they weren't allowed to vote. As it is, they're also slightly disturbing.

He is making fun of/mocking people who have started their own business and know they got there through being smart and working hard.
You Olympians, however, know you didn’t get here solely on your own power, said Romney, who on Friday will attend the Opening Ceremonies of this year’s Summer Olympics. For most of you, loving parents, sisters or brothers, encouraged your hopes, coaches guided, communities built venues in order to organize competitions. All Olympians stand on the shoulders of those who lifted them. We’ve already cheered the Olympians, let’s also cheer the parents, coaches, and communities. All right!"
And of course, Romney was mocking & making fun of the athletes competing in the Olympics, too.
Quote of the Day: Mitt Romney Told Olympians They Didn't Get There Alone – The Moderate Voice
And how come Romney is spending millions of dollars trying to hide his tax returns? Is he deranged, or just trying to avoid answering to his effective tax rate over the years?

Summary
None of the anti-Obama arguments have seemed to stand up to scrutiny.
The utter lack of an argument on the right is summed by the outlandish attempts to take Obama's "you didn't" speech and try to turn it into some sort of fifth column attack on small business people. Then when they can show no where in the text does he say what they claim, then we are supposed to accept the argument that there is some sort of secret message in his tone and body language. The argument has gone from the ridiculous to the more ridiculous. To accept this argument we would have to accept that Barack Obama is a moron. Why would he make an attack upon a significant portion of the electorate?
Yeah Obama is mocking people who started their own business. Right.
The arguments have gotten silly.
petro writes:
You know he wonders about people who take credit for what they do. Strange because I don't.
Really? Where does he say that? Where does he say people should not take credit for their endeavors? Where does he say that everyone is dependent on the government? Are all teachers evil cause he mentioned them?
petro again writes:
As an aside what kind of mentally deranged person would spend over a million dollars just to keep people from seeing his birth certificate?
Really? And you have the evidence for this. Just because Donald Trump says something doesn't make it true.
Will Obama lose? Hell if I know. But the reasons put forth by the rightwing are not likely to be the reason if he loses. The arguments put forth are based on spin and lies. Yes outright lies.
Took $700 billion from Medicare. Lie.
No one built there own business. Lie.
Not natural born US citizen. Lie.
Obama is a despot. Lie.
Romney has few if any positives going into the home stretch. All he has is attacks. He is in high dudgeon whenever his record as a business man, governor or Olympics guy is brought up or questioned. He refuses to outline his economic plan. He and Mr. Ryan claim to have some sort of magical way to fix the economy but refuse to tell us until after the election. Right.
Supply side economics doesn't work. We have 30 years of it to prove that. How far do we cut taxes on the rich and corporations before this miraculous prosperity for all begins? Tax cuts do not pay for themselves. Mitt Romney and Donald Trump are not job creators. Taxing them more will not slow job creation, it will actually create jobs.
When corporations and extremely wealthy people are taxed more that tend to invest more in their companies. Instead of sending money to the government there is more incentive to plow it back into the company. That way more jobs are created and more innovation happens instead of businesses stagnating or getting raped for short term gains.

Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts
"God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness.

There is a good chance the US will continue moving towards Fascism
It's certainly possible that the US will continue the move towards Fascism that began with the Christian Right Coup and takeover of the Republican party that elected Ronald Reagan. Fortunately I'm old and so will most likely not suffer too much from the New World Order that would be instituted by the modern Republicans.
In the long run it's probably healthy since the total collapse of a US middle class that will result may lead to a reemergence of a Progressive party.

Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Summary
Obama will win because
(1) Romney is a flipper flop that represents the 1% ultra-rich and he doesn't have a clue how most people live.
(2) Ryan is an ultra conservative (thinks in vitro fertilization is immoral and he wants to outlaw it) and his "budget" is based on fantasy novels by a hypocrite.
(3) The "failure" of Obama to create jobs is due completely to the GOP congress stonewalling on every job bill, even ones they had previously supported.
(4) The bush tax breaks for billionaires (so call "job creators") has been shown to be a failed paradigm that hasn't produced either jobs or economic prosperity in the 12+ years we've had it (note that if they actually created jobs then Obama would not have to be sending all those GOP stalled job bills to congress and the economic collapse would not have happened).
and then we come to "the speech" ... here's the transcript:
PICKET:(VIDEO) Obama - 'If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen' - Washington Times
quote:
"There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me -- because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t -(1)- look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something -- there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there. (Applause.)
If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business -(2)- you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.
The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together. There are some things, just like fighting fires, we don’t do on our own. I mean, imagine if everybody had their own fire service. That would be a hard way to organize fighting fires.
"
(emphasis added)
(1)note that at this point he pauses and turns, changes gears ...
(2)... and at this point he pauses and turns again, breaking the link in the dialogue again.
Curiously, when people say "the point is ... " they usually then state what the point is.
You did not build that business completely on your own, you had help, you built it on the shoulders of others, you used things that others built, you used ideas that others had. You added to the whole system.
For example the girls and the lemonade stand ...
... take that stand and move it to the middle of a desert ...
... take that stand and move it to the middle of a war zone ...
... take that stand and move it to the middle of the ocean ...
... and make it work with NO outside help. Good luck with that.
Clearly context is critical, but we can also realize that people sometimes make unfortunate choices in wording. For instance, if he had said ...:
If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that those. Somebody else made that them happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.
... there would not be such a kerfuffle ...
All this shows is how desperate Romney is, and how much he is relying on the gullibility the average american to swallow Faux Noise Inc and not bother with the truth.
Enjoy.

I'd like to see the Silly Party defeat the Very Silly Party. If there was a Slightly Silly Party, I'd vote for them.

Buz Summary
If one reads the substanceless arguments following my last message, my points remain unrefuted.
None of the respondents cited any of the pertinent points in why Ryan and Romney are a political double barreled shotgun capable of trouncing their stealth candidate who has yet to reveal his alleged Columbia records.
Romney was long gone from by the Banes's Capital by the time Bane's legal problems began.
Obama has yet to even reveal any college records. Nobody who was at Columbia U while he was allegedly there remember ever seeing him at Columbia. If he was there, perhaps the reason he's keeping records secret is because he would have been registered as a foreign student if those records were ever aired.
Nobody knows anything about his past except the fact that all of his friends and mentors, bar none, were self avowed socialis or scommunist. Obama initiated his campaign in the home of terrorist bomber and murdere, Bill Ayers
Obviously intelecual political ignorant members ( the majority) here at EvC who blindly still support this no. 1 enemy of America, sitting in the highest office in the nation, are gnorant polical sheeple who have yet to refute any of my pertinent points which I have aired in this thread.
If he is re-elected, 85% of black racist types will vote for him simply because he is black. He's, in fact, only 1/2 black as black goes, having a white mother.
Most politically ignorant American sheeples will blindly vote for him.
Their problem is that they listen to more dumbed down country western nonsense and know more about sports events than current events. They rarely listen to Fox, the only objective news which aires conservatives as well as liberals.
