Re: Things Paul Ryan Doesn't Know
The lies do work on some people. Last week there was a news item about the owner of an ice cream parlor who turned down a visit by the vice president ostensibly because of the "You didn't build that" line.

Re: Things Paul Ryan Doesn't Know
And thereby missed an opportunity to discuss his outrage with the VP and become a hero to the GOP?
I think the likelihood is that the parlor owner is a republican who just didn't want to assist democrats and repeated a party line.
FNN (Faux Noise Nonsense) or CNN (Conservative Note Nattering)?
But I don't have the impression that CNN is helping to spread this particular lie. I haven't watched Fox News since the last election cycle.

Bloomberg - Are you a robot?
Check out the bottom line....
quote:
He’s going to hand over the sovereignty of the United States to the UN, Lubbock County Judge Tom Head said this week on a Fox News television station in the north Texas Panhandle region. Then what happens? I’m thinking worst-case scenario -- civil unrest, civil disobedience, civil war maybe.
We’re talking take up arms and get rid of the guy, he said. Obama’s response? ``He’s going to send in UN troops. I don’t want them in Lubbock.
Head offered the scenarios as partial justification for a 1.7 percent property-tax increase to hire more deputies and add other law-enforcement resources.

Re: Foolish Democrats
We though when they denied the cardinals' blessing that it was some seperation of church and state thing, turns out its cause they are supporting the POTUS' religion instead.
Today's Washington Times reports that Cardinal Dolan is giving the benediction at the DNC.

Silly birther nonsense...
They must have finally responded after all the bad press they were recieving.
Or the DNC never turned down the Cardinal Dolan to begin with. The Posts says that Obama "turned down a chance" when the reality is that the only thing to report was that Dolan had offered and had not yet gotten an answer back.

gnored him, blew him off, snubbed him, denied him, turned him down....really what is the difference? oh yeah you just post here on semantics, my bad.
None of those things happened. Cardinal Dolan offered to do the benediction and his offer has been accepted. The difference between what actually happened and a snub/denial is the added spin. If the answer wasn't no, then it was not a denial. If the cardinal was not offended, or the delay was not unreasonable then it wasn't a snub.
For you, there may be no difference.

Mitt Romney Campaign: We Will Not 'Be Dictated By Fact-Checkers'

Mitt Romney's campaign said on Tuesday that its ads attacking President Obama's waiver policy on welfare have been its most effective to date. And while the spots have been roundly criticized as lacking any factual basis, the campaign said it didn't really care.
"We're not going to let our campaign be dictated by fact-checkers," Romney pollster Neil Newhouse said at a panel organized by ABC News. This is a different standard than the one Romney himself has held up for the election-season ad wars.

On the other hand, to anyone paying the slightest bit of attention to facts, Ryan’s speech was an apparent attempt to set the world record for the greatest number of blatant lies and misrepresentations slipped into a single political speech. Re: Lyin' Ryan
Perhaps these numbers will provide some perspective.
quote:
Runner’s World has some great statistics on other national candidates that have faster times than Ryan, including the last GOP vice presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, who has a best time of 3:59.
John Edwards has run 3:30 and George W. Bush has run 3:44, while Al Gore is slower than Ryan with a 4:58.
Some amount of "puffing" is expected from politicians, but what on earth would motivate Ryan to spew out a lie about something like this? What would he say if I asked him how much he benched? If your staff had vetted this man, would not such a lie cause you to call the vetting squad back in?

Re: Lyin' Ryan
Of course, there is no reason I can see why this lie should get more attention
The marathon time 'embellishment' gets special attention because the lie is indefensible, needless, and stupid. Incidentally, most people don't try to pass off bogus fish stories as fact, and essentially nobody lies about their marathon times.

Flip-boy,
Can't really blame him for doing this.
It turns out that you cannot actually get elected to a national office if you stick to the Republican platform. If your actually try to run on being against abortion to the point where you are willing to kill the mom, label a college education as being for elitists only despite having one yourself, and trashing half or more of the population economically, and you think clean water/air and arctic ice are luxuries for liberals, then you lose. Unfortunately Republicans must appeal to the to the wing-nuts, coal miners, and fundies to get nominated.
And of course the Romney is great at making course adjustments. That's what makes him electable.
If elected, Romney will have very little say in what replaces the AFA. His party hates his ideas re health care.

Apparently the word 'pre-existing' wasn't taught in the third-grade class Romney dropped out of in order to have more time to devote to his campaigning.
If you change jobs you may be faced with having to get insurance again and finding that what was covered by your old insurer is indeed a pre-existing condition as far as your new insurer is concerned.
Oops...

Only if you can find a job that offers health care.
Health insurance need not come from an employee plan.
But the idea is that a break in employment, which is the situation that Romney was talking about, can bring up the issue of pre-existing conditions.
