And (with the exception of carbon dating) how do we know how old the universe is? Yeah, that would be a good thing to except carbon dating from.

Hi Peeta,
Peanut gallery threads are for those watching other people debate. The debaters, like actors on a stage, should not engage the peanut gallery. --Percy

I gotta admit I do get a big chuckle when topics like "Ice Age is a Product of the Flood " come up, a really big chuckle, since it shows just how little folk know about science or physics or reality.
Even if we forget that no matter which of the Biblical Flood myths we choose, the Flud was a short term event, the plain physics of turning water into ice means there is NO world-wide flood. When you turn water into ice it expands, becomes an almost solid (still shows some plasticity) and actually lowers sea levels. Fortunately, changes leave evidence and Ice Ages leave lots of evidence in moraines, "U" shaped valleys, gouges in bedrock, missing soil layers, evidence of lowered shore lines and displaced boulders. The evidence shows that during Ice Ages sea levels are low exposing land bridges (Bering Straits) that had previously been flooded. So lock all that water up in ice folk. After all if it weren't for the current Ice Age un-flooding that land bridge we might not even be here today. Yes, I must admit that I had a good chuckle as well.
For me it's just mind-blowing that some people read an article or two on the internet and think that they know more than hundreds of thousands of specialists scientists, from all over the world, about that subject. Hundreds of thousands of people who studied the subject intensively for years. Their whole way of thinking just boggles the mind. Then the "carbon dating" thing came about in this "debate", too. Exactly how stupid do they think those hundreds of thousands of specialists are?

Well if you cannot give us any more info than this we will just have to file this under shit you made up. She didn't make it up. It's a slightly garbled account of the discovery of Pi-Ramesses. The city was first discovered at what is now Tanis. It was gradually realised, however, that the monuments at the site had all been transported from somewhere else. Analysis revealed that the easternmost branch of the Nile, where Pi-Ramesses was situated according to contemporary documents, would have been elsewhere in the 13th century BC. This led to the discovery of the original site at Qantir, 30 km to the south. Much excavation work has been done there, revealing the extensive evidence left behind after the city's monumental architecture was moved to follow the changing course of the Nile.

I am familiar with Pi-Ramsses. It doesn't' really support Forevers argument does it?
So Forever was making stuff up in an attempt to support an argument. Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts "God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness.

Theodoric writes: So Forever was making stuff up in an attempt to support an argument. I don't think FEY was making stuff up. I believe he really did see a History Channel program about this. His confusion was to conclude that it was an example of reaching valid conclusions in the absence of evidence. FEY has to work out the contradictions in his thinking for himself, and until he does he'll continue to post nonsensical claims like this. He thinks it's possible to know something even though presented no information, but he has no idea how this could possibly be. --Percy

I thought that might be the one, but without confirmation I didn't want to guess. But it's clearly the case that there was plenty of evidence for that - it was just a matter of looking for it. If that's the one that ForeverYoung meant, it's more evidence AGAINST the proposition that the Flood could reasonably have left no evidence at all.

This so-called debate is getting boring.
Peeta Mellark writes: Are there any evolutionists out there who have the balls to get in a one on one debate about how people got to North America??? Now that there is an "evolutionist" who "has the balls to get into a one on one debate about about how people got to North America", Peeta Mellark disappeared. First he or she made a completely irrelevant statement about religion, asked irrelevant questions and then vanished from the scene.... My guess is that Peeta Mellard ran back to some creationist website, writes about the "castrated evolutionists" and claims victory.... Hope I'm not right, but looking at previous attempts from other creationists who claimed to have had "big balls", I doubt that he or she will return. Such a pity. I always learn a tremendous amount from Coyote.

I don't see how a dogpile could be worse. Confusion is a creationist's best friend. Lol... Creationist always complain about dogpiles, so I assumed that a dogpile is worse than having a single person blow you up. Still, in past discussions I haven't seen anyone give a real good evidence based description of the cause(s) for ice ages. Perhaps that would leave an opening for an accomplished debater to give Coyote some difficulty.Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also in prison. While there might not be evidence for the direct cause of an ice age, some possibilities can be eliminated as totally refuted like a Biblical Flood.

Percy writes: Late August is a time when many college students return to campus, and while waiting for friends to return and for classes to begin some of them stumble across this site. Peeta will soon run out of spare time and be seen no more. Peeta Mellark writes: Now on the other hand, something that is a completely false fabrication is your assuming that I am in college. And yet, just as I predicted, you've disappeared! --Percy

I didn't say I thought Coyote should lose.
But in this debate, refuting the flood using some of the most common approaches isn't really the way I would expect the discussion would go. I would expect the thread to discuss the link between an ice age and a flood of whatever type the OP defends. Of course, it is possible that we've seen the last of the OP. What we can show is the converse, examples of Ice Ages (particularly ending them) causing local floods.
