Author | Topic: The US Gov't is Guilty of Murder | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

You can claim that the war is not war-like. The war is plenty warlike. The drone killings in Pakistan and Yemen are taking place in countries that the US is not at war with. Attacking funerals in a foreign sovereign country is not warlike it is terrorist like.
You can claim that murder is not a legal term. I suppose that I could but I never did. I am arguing that the actions of the US gov't in these attacks qualifies as second degree murder.
You can claim that CIA aren't soldiers. I just said that they were the CIA.
You can claim that wars are only between countries. My claim is that the US can not legitimately declare war against Afghanistan and use the protections of that state of war to randomly kill people around the globe.
You can claim that good countries insist on 'imminent threat' before going to war. Alright, I will then.
Is this definition good enough for you? Yes that's the one.

How would the US react if the situation was reversed - a country used a drone to kill someone in the US that it felt was a criminal? Wouldn't the reverse be to help and support a radical fundamentalist christian sect that then hijacked 4 airplanes and divebombed them into your skyscapers with the tacit approval of the government?

Yes it would. The US regarded it as an act of war and reacted by invading a country. Should Pakistan now do the same?Life, don't talk to me about life - Marvin the Paranoid Android

The US has not invaded Pakistan.
Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

An invasion is complex, expensive and internationally controversial. A declaration of war is a diplomatic nicety with little connection to reality. A simple act of war is a useful compromise.

Pakistan is implicit in aiding and abetting militants from the political faction that participated in the 9/11 attacks, so I would say that the US is justified in drone attacks within Pakistan. I don't think anyone can compare these attacks with what was visited on the US, and not just on 9/11. There were embassy bombings prior to 9/11. Edited by Taq, : No reason given.

Jar, the US is bombing a foreign country without declaring war on it - in the case of Pakistan, a country that it relies on as an ally.
It's taking military action inside another sovereign country, killing people it alleges are terrorists and people it admits are innocent civilians. I'm very simply trying to get you to see that that action if it was performed inside the US by foreign agents - like the extreme example of 9/11 - would be regarded by the US as an act of war. The US tends to think that whatever it feels is ok, actually IS ok - then wonders why it gets a little push back from the rest of the world.Life, don't talk to me about life - Marvin the Paranoid Android
