Re: Mother Jones on the real Mitt Romney
Nor will it endear him any to those 47 percent in question. Despite what Mitten says, he is in damage control. This statement further illustrates his " fuck the poor, your on your own" mentality. imo.

Despite what Mitten says, he is in damage control.
I agree. Mitt is definitely off message again. He'd certainly rather be continuing his "it's the ecomony, stupid" message.
Still, hooah212002 has a point. Maps I've seen indicate that ignoring the 47% ought to cost Mitt a bunch of southern states, but even the poorest ones, like Mississippi are going to remain firmly in Mitt's column despite the fact that his nose thumbing is directed straight at the bulk of their populations.

Re: Mother Jones on the real Mitt Romney
First off, I would like to know where this "47%" number came from because I remember Coyote saying it some time ago.
Nor will it endear him any to those 47 percent in question.
He doesn't give a fuck about that HALF of the population. He says so in the video we are referencing AND the video where he addresses it:
And to prove my previous point, read the comments on the Faux News edition of his response to this....if you dare. These yahoos just eat this up and actually believe 47% of the population pays NO taxes and extend that to believe they pay no taxes because they are simply lazy.
Examples:
quote:
Mitt just won the election. I've been waitng for him to bring this up.
quote:
Go Romney! I'm getting tired of carrying the 47%! Obama is over here calling us hard working people as you " you didn't built it" because somebody else did it for us. Plus Obama is always saying " everybodys got to pay their fair share" bull crap. Well where is the fair share coming from the 47% slackers! It's time we took the same stance as Romney. Obama has divided us even worse then what they're saying Romney did. And it's ok for Obama to pay that game. I just donated to Romney because now we need somebody in office like Romney. Enough is enough. Slackers, the gravy train is coming to a stop. Vote Romney!

Mitt Romney Just Lost The Election
From Business Insider
BLOOMBERG: Mitt Romney Just Lost The Election
I think they are almost right. Not quite right, though, because I think Romney (aka Elmer Fudd) decisively lost the election when opened his big mouth about the Libya embassy riots, and demonstrated his complete ineptness.

That's the first time I've heard Mitt Romney speak. He reminds me of an actor, but I can't quite place who. Try listening to his words without watching the picture and see if you can help me figure out who I'm thinking of.

Moochers
What amazes me is how Romney has this crazy notion that the 47% must be Obama voters, even going so far as to repeat it in his response. Because... well, they must be right? Am I right? They're a bunch of moochers, so they must be democrats. Must be.
Oh.

Re: Moochers
Couldn't a state be a Republican one and still have 40% of its people voting for Obama?

Re: Moochers
Sure. But the religious right demographic is often far less than affluent - and they vote Republican. They just have no sense of irony when they parrot the "freeloader" nonsense and then pay little to no income tax because theyre poor.
Im not in the 47%. I pay a LOT in taxes - my Federal tax rate is around 30%. California takes another ~10%. I'm definitely not one of Romney's "freeloaders."
I'm still voting against Romney. I dont think I'm the only one.

The human understanding when it has once adopted an opinion (either as being the received opinion or as being agreeable to itself) draws all things else to support and agree with it.
- Francis Bacon
"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs." - John Rogers
A world that can be explained even with bad reasons is a familiar world. But, on the other hand, in a universe suddenly divested of illusions and lights, man feels an alien, a stranger. His exile is without remedy since he is deprived of the memory of a lost home or the hope of a promised land. This divorce between man and his life, the actor and his setting, is properly the feeling of absurdity. — Albert Camus
"...the pious hope that by combining numerous little turds of
variously tainted data, one can obtain a valuable result; but in fact, the
outcome is merely a larger than average pile of shit." Barash, David 1995.

As a European I have trouble understanding how somebody who has made this amount of blunders is still a viable candidate for a presidental race.
And it has been mentioned before here, but I also wonder why the trias politica has firmly in place in the US, but it has such a small role in judging the accomplishments of presidents. And like in the UK, the 2 party system creates serious mud-throwing, and stagnation because they both block and reverse whatever the other party wants to accomplish if they get the chance.
I'm just a outsider, but I like to ask: are you all content with this political system?
