Well, they're not official colors; the parties don't have official colors. (Because they'd both want red and blue ... and white). The convention was created by the media for use in electoral maps; obviously it makes it easier for viewers if every time they're looking at an electoral map it uses the same color code. As to why it's that way round, Wikipedia explains ... sorta.

Some background on the 47% meme Hey thanks. That was interesting. So... he's just lying. I think he knows that the 47% aren't really as he was describing them and that he was just throwing the figure out there to a crowd as a political tool.

And, now Pawlenty is quitting the campaign to become a a lobbyist for Wall Street.
Romney's remark is. "While I regret he cannot continue as co-chair of my campaign, his new position advancing the integrity of our financial system is vital to the future of our country," Romney said. "I congratulate him."" Now, I never believed that a lobbyist was 'vital to the integrity of our financial system", but the comment reinforces Romney's disconnect with the average american, .. and it appears Pawlenty is a rat abandoning a sinking ship.

And, now Pawlenty is quitting the campaign to become a a lobbyist for Wall Street. So, he accepted a sleazy job working for a bunch of rich crooks devoted to promoting the interests of a rich, privileged and corrupt elite ... ... and then he became a Wall Street lobbyist.

Hmm, read the first chapter.
It is a claim the president has repeated in his books, on the speech-making circuit and in countless media interviews. By his account, he grew up in a broken home with a single mom, struggled for years as a child in an impoverished Third World country and then was raised by his grandparents in difficult circumstances. And then to the extent that they refute this "claim repeated in his books" they do so almost entirely by quotations and paraphrases and facts taken from Dreams From My Father! Wow, this is investigative journalism at its finest.

A bit of a summary would have been nice...

I used to commute to DC everyday from the Northern VA and on most commuting days I read the Examiner on the way to work. I think it is fair to note that the editorial stuff in the paper was also presented with a hard right wing nut slant.
I did like the puzzles in the Examiner better than the ones in the Post. Of course it is unfair to judge this article on such a basis. Let me point to just one objectionable portion of the article. Chapter X Obama brings Chicago politics to Washington.
quote: That's right. The crime in Chicago tells you something important you ought to know about Obama; it is a link in proving that Obama himself is corrupt. At least that is the Examiner's take on things. Edited by NoNukes, : No reason given.Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also in prison. Thoreau: Civil Disobedience (1846) The apathy of the people is enough to make every statue leap from its pedestal and hasten the resurrection of the dead. William Lloyd Garrison. Choose silence of all virtues, for by it you hear other men's imperfections, and conceal your own. George Bernard Shaw

I live in (southern) Illinois and its pretty much accepted that you have to be corrupt to get through Chicago politics. We even joke that our ex-govenors make our license plates... you know, cause they're in jail.

While I regret he cannot continue as co-chair of my campaign, his new position advancing the integrity of our financial system is vital to the future of our country. Wait, what? Excuse me, what exactly is going to happen to our country if Tim Pawlenty doesn't become CEO of the Financial Services Roundtable? It'll sink into the sea? The Elder Gods will awaken and eat our souls? It is mentioned in the Mayan Calendar, and if so do the Mayans actually specify that Tim Pawlenty in particular will avert whatever-it-is, or would any former Governor of Minnesota do equally well? I think we should be told. In the meantime, I would like to thank Tim Pawlenty for nobly agreeing to save the US from whatever vague and nebulous horror would otherwise befall it.

You know what would be diversely interesting? If you diversified your poilitical discussion portfolio by actually engaging in the discussion instead of drive by nonsense. Here we (commie liberals) are, discussing things that actually happened (gaffs galore by your buddy Mittens) and you've got.....what? Would you care to tell us what this link contains? How do you interpret it?
You're a hardcore shill for all things conservatives and you act EXACTLY like they are portrayed by us pinko commie liberals. A discussion with you would be delightful. Please, instead of BS, bring some data and facts to this table. You're a smart fella, we've all seen it. Surely you make your political decisions using the same reason and evidence that you do for your science stuff. Where is it???? You can't really be a mindless Fox junkie who swallows everything Ann Coulter, Glenn beck and Rush Limaugh say blindly. But alas, you won't respond. Instead, tomorrow you'll link drop some conspiracy about the Kenyan in the White House from Drudge Report. Life is too short to spend time arguing with some of the folks here.
Yesterday a poster here was actually excusing and partially-denying the Stalin famines in the USSR, even though the link I posted discussing it was from the Library of Congress and taken from internal Soviet documents. Arguing with such a poster would be a waste of time. So I'll just post what reasonable articles I can in the name of diversity, as this thread certainly could use some.

Yesterday a poster here was actually excusing and partially-denying the Stalin famines in the USSR I think you'll find that what we were denying was your absurd interpretation that they were the result of "redistribution." I notice you omit that in your recap of the event.
