I believe that religion should be taught in all schools. I outlined most of my reasoning in this thread, but in its simplest form, religion has and continues to play a very large place in human societies and I believe that we should all understand the place religion plays for both good and bad.
Having gone through an education where religions played a very major part I can also say with some confidence that while fights did happen, religion was never the cause.

Re: Why is Church Not Enough?
So how do we determine what is safe and nonthreatening behavior, and how do that and enforce it without stepping on the students' civil rights?
Should students have any rights?

I will clarify a few things here. I take no objection to saying that common descent is true, as in salamanders and newts come from the same ancestor. Human and chimps? No.
Why do you object to acknowledging that humans are just another primate, just another chordate, just another animal?

Actually, humans are unique. We have the capacity to creatively use language and reason. Something I have never seen in a primate.
Then you have never looked or are simply repeating a falsehood.
Here is a list of over 70,000 scholarly articles on primate use of language.
And here is a list of over 40,000 scholarly articles on primate reasoning and cooperation.
But you also should remember that humans ARE just another primate, just another chordate, just another animal. Every critter is unique, there is nothing unique about being unique.

Utter nonsense.
Communication is communication and in addition they can use language, form sentences and transmit information just as we do. They can even learn and use ASL and pass the knowledge on to future generations.
Cooperation requires reasoning. But it goes beyond cooperation and includes planning and as well as tool creation and use.
Why is it you seem afraid to admit that humans are just another primate, another chordate, another animal?

When someone looks at a problem and figures out a solution is it not reasoning?
When they transmit that solution to another person is that not using reasoning?
When two people decide to cooperate in order to accomplish a task is that not reasoning?
When someone uses ASL to make a request is that not using language?
Why are you afraid to admit that you are just another primate, another Chordate, another animal?

What does any of this have to do with the topic?
