All politics is local?
The House and the Senate are still up for grabs, so in this thread, as well as discussing the presidents, feel free to discuss local politics in the state in which you live.
Since California opened the primary process, this is the first time in the last few elections my representative to the House is running against an opponent. He'll still win, but at least this year I have a choice. Oh joy.
Also, we have the pleasure here of (mostly) being able to avoid the constant media ads for President. We all know who's going to carry CA. Since Feinstein is a shoe-in, we don't even have a Senate race to spend money on. Oh joy.
Mostly, I'm voting for our local government dweebs & weighing in on the props. My general rule for the last 8 years or so is to vote against all CA propositions - they must have a really compelling reason to get me to even look at why I should vote yes.
Obama is going to stay in the White House, and the Senate will barely stay w/ the Democrats. I wish the House would switch, but I doubt it will happen. Obama will have to dust off his personal skills of persuasion in order to get Boehner into the game, 2013.

Does Mittens follow in dad's footsteps?
I must have missed this nugget before: George Romney was an evolution denier? Humph.
The New Republic
"The featured speaker at graduation was Tagg’s grandfather George, ever the distinguished-looking statesman even in his early eighties. But the speech itself was a shocka jeremiad about the importance of chastity and the false god of evolution. My wife isn’t a descendant of orangutans, George thundered. It was pretty offensive, says Tony Maws, a classmate and admirer of Tagg’s, who recalls his friend slinking down in his chair. "
I don't remember if anyone has pressed Mitt on this?

Re: Does Mittens follow in dad's footsteps?
I was thinking more about the religious teachings than the familial relationship, but whatever.

Re: Time for predictions!
Obama is re-elected, the Senate stays w/ the Democrats, and the House remains in Republican control - but, Boehner retains some key folks & is shed of a few tea-baggers. West, King, Walsh will most likely lose; Bachmann will hang on by the hairs of her chinny-chin chin, and a few vocal Democrats will gain seats - Grayson will be a great get.
Conservatives run amok & heads explode while trying to appear in control. I fear a true split among factions of the RNC, but what will happen won't be as bad as a permanent severing of the religious core of the Republican Party.
Reid will push for a true majority vote in the Senate & the filibuster will be forever changed.
Until 2020. :-)

It's all Rmoney!
We all vote for our money - the pity is, so many folks don't understand where our money is best served.
That's why so many low-income Americans vote for Republicans.
