Faith writes: How is this rock part of the geological column if it's formed 45 kilometers deep in the earth? OK, we might be getting to the problem here. Could you please show me this geological column you have been referring to?

Peter says the Old Testament writers knew they were writing to a future generation about salvation through the Messiah to come:
And where does he say that they were writing to a future generation about geology?Fundamentalism - the anti-American, anti-Christian branch of American Christianity

The laws had different purposes. All that teach principles that apply today are to be used as guideliness.
I have no authority over you and this isn't Church which was the context of Paul's teaching.

Where have I said one thing that implies that my thoughts about the geology of the Flood come from the Bible? What I'm doing is taking what I understand from Geology and showing that it supports the Flood. Everything in this world supports the Bible ultimately whether we yet have a grasp of it or not.

About the Levitical laws, that's all part of the Books of Moses and Moses was definitely one of the prophets Peter was writing about who knew what God was doing in his time pointed forward to the Messiah. So did Abraham for that matter, as explained in the Letter to the Hebrews.

It's known for DISSOLVING stuff. Soaking, saturating, dissolving. Oh come on Faith - that's rediculous even for you. My bathroom sink is made of marble, I put water in it. The kitchen work surface is granite. There's sand and flint on the beach. Ever tried dissolving a bloody rock? The Grand Canyon is the best example of it I know of.
Why don't you just tell me what you are talking about?

Oh come on Tangle that's REALLY ridiculous. The earth isn't made of marble, and the earth would have been pummeled by rain for 40 days already., Whatever could dissolve would dissolve. If it rains for even three days off and on where I am I get a six inch deep muddy stream outside my door. Don't tell me it's all that different where the rest of you live.

\But you know nothing about geology. E.g: quote: Anyone writing that cannot be taken seriously, and hasn't even seen a picture of a geological formation (e.g. the Grand Canyon).

Faith,
When I look at flood geology as a whole there is one observation that overpowers everything that flood geologists are saying: it is dogma. There is no potential evidence that would falsify flood geology. It really doesn't matter what the evidence is, so why do flood geologists argue about the evidence? Be honest. There is no evidence we could ever show you that would change your mind. If you think I am wrong then I urge you to show me up. Describe for me the features a geologic formation would need to have in order for you to admit that flood geology is falsified.

Faith, you really are proving that you can't tell good arguments from bad. The main constituents of most rocks are calcium carbonate (VERY poorly soluble) or silica (almost completely insoluble). Very little rock has precipitated out of solution. Sedimentary rocks are typically formed from small solid particles which settle out of water, not material that precipitates out of solution.
This is simply not a sensible argument.

The Carribean is under water 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and yet limestone is accumulating at a rate of a few mm a year. Why do you think that is? Edited by Taq, : No reason given.

About the Levitical laws, that's all part of the Books of Moses and Moses was definitely one of the prophets Peter was writing about who knew what God was doing in his time pointed forward to the Messiah. Gawsh, those poor Levites! To think that God was tricking them into thinking they actually had these laws to follow when really it was all a big ploy to lead up to the Messiah. Don't you think it was kinda mean for God to mislead them like that? You've turned God into Loki. I suppose you already know the penalty for blaspheming the Holy Spirit...

The Grand Canyon is the best example of it I know of. It's picturesque, and it shows a portion of the geologic column, but it's far from the entire geological column. But the Vishnu Group in the Grand Canyon is metamorphic and formed miles underground.

Hi again Faith,
Curiously I notice that you have hardly touched the questions I raised. I really am interested in your providing biblical references to show that your assertions are not "unbiblical stuff".
It's known for DISSOLVING stuff. Soaking, saturating, dissolving. Again, water is known for dissolving some materials (soluble things), such as limestone deposits. There are instances known where enough is dissolved that the surface of the land collapses, however this is not a mudslide, but a collapsed roof of a cave where the limestone has been dissolved out to the point of structural failure of the covering rock layers.
Panoramio is no longer available
quote: Of course, you also now have the problem of first forming the limestone and then depositing stuff over it and then dissolving it, with these processes specifically detailed in the bible. This process is slow, normally taking many years to occur: Tucson Citizen - The Voice of Tucson
quote: Sadly, it appears that "a geologically short lifetime" is still significantly longer than the duration of the flood. Do you have a biblical reference for the dissolving of "stuff" causing mudslides or structural failure? Again, I want to be sure that you are not posting "unbiblical stuff" ...
