Re: EvC Awards
Well I've been thinking about this and I'm afraid that my answers are probably going to be much the same as years gone by....
Chuck writes:
Best overall poster
On most subjects I'll read, enjoy and learn something from posts by Mod, Rahvin, Crashfrog, Rrhain, Dwise and a few others. But I would give the title of best overall poster to Mod. I've been inspired to investigate many philosophical issues as a result of his contributions and think that the epistemological areas he excels at underpin the entire EvC debate.
Chuck writes:
Best debater
In terms of just being impossible to breakdown Rrhain is a good debater. This is partly because he very effectively attacks a position without explicitly taking one of his own. I can appreciate why this isn't to everyone's taste.... But it is effective.
Dr Adequate has the ability to make his opponents look utterly ridiculous in a way that I wish I could sometimes emulate. Dr A is probably the best debator here to my mind.
Chuck writes:
Most intelligent
Fuck. That's a hard one. All of the people already mentioned above are obviously intelligent. Maybe not as intelligent as some of them think they are... But clever bastards all the same. More overlooked members like Omni and Granny Magda are also notably intelligent. Then there is "most intelligent" in the sense of being "most knowledgeable" where members like Wounded King, Cavediver and Son Goku are indisputable masters of their complex specialist fields. Percy, NoNukes and a whole raft of others are obvioulsy no fools. Overall (and as much as I think it will swell his already swollen head) I am gonna say Dr A again.
Chuck writes:
Most potential
Where did Stephen Push go? Panda - No doubt a popular choice with you eh Chuck - Who I think could successfully play a more prominent role as a main protagonist in debates rather than the supporting role he usually chooses to take.
Chuck writes:
Most sarcastic
Dr A. Again. Dark Oni maybe....
Chuck writes:
Best thread starter
Me. Well I think that the threads I start are the ones most blatantly interesting. But then I suppose I would wouldn't I....? But seriously look at the list of threads I have started. Only a fool would disagree. Obviously.
Chuck writes:
Most laid back
Oni. Phat. Xongsmith kinda...... Catholic Scientist in a rather non-laid-back way that I still quite enjoy.
Chuck writes:
Funniest
Oni, Dr A. CS. Cavediver. Lyx2no. Oni on form still makes me spit beer all over my keyboard in a way nobody else does.
That'll do for now. What about you Chuck (and others)?

Thank you for the nomination, but I doubt I will ever progress beyond my 'supporting role'.
A role you are very good at. I didn't mean it disparagingly at all.
Panda writes:
*gives Straggler a rosette*
I will wear it proudly.
Panda writes:
I seem unable to write long pieces of prose and I am frequently envious of the likes of the likes of Rahvin, Granny, etc. whom are able to write many paragraphs but still manage to avoid any waffle.
Yup. And on the theistic side I would add GDR as a favourite of mine.

There is probably only 5 or 6 people on here I care to talk too (Catholic Scientist, Straggler, Dr Adequate, Onifre, Taq, Modulous) anyway.
If your location is Wisconsin or Minnesota, I try to pretend you don't even exist.
Myself, Oni and Dr A have decided to setup a commune in Wisconsin. CS and Taq will be overseeing the Minnesota operation.
The aim is to spread the EvC message of peace and love between believer and non-believer alike.
We want you with us on this journey brother Artie.
All together now - Kumbayah......

Nowadays I often find myself following PaulK's posts as I find his exchanges interesting and informative even on the occasion that I disagree with him.
Yep. Me too. PaulK is def worth a mention in any EvC awards context. Not sure what specific category. But worth a mention as someone worth following who doesn't get regularly mentioned. I nominate him in the category of "most whatever" - and I mean that in the best possible way.
Mod writes:
EvC of course has a wealth of options here. I'm settling on crashfrog, which I'm sure will raise some eyebrows. The simple reason is, that right or wrong, crashfrog has probably done more to shake my preconceptions and faulty thinking than any other member. His consistency in this regard is to be commended.
Again - Yep. I don't always agree with Crash (although on most topics I probably broadly do - but it's the details that matter) . I sometimes find myself exasperated by his strident style. But I usually learn something and I am usually forced to ask myself awkward questions about my own position as a result of his contributions. And his strident style is frankly something that I am in no position to get upset about..... I often seek to emulate it.
Good choices.

Re: EvC Awards
Can you link?
What are you talking about?
Or is it too painful and embarressing to bring up (in which case you shouldn't have mentioned it...)

Dr A - 10,000 Unnoticed
Dr Adequate's 10,000th post seems to have passed by all but un-noticed.
Personally I have been drinking to his accomplishment most of the evening (in fact even before noticing it)
(**Straggler let's off a firework and hands Dr A his 10,000 post merit badge**)
And it's nearly that time of year for this year's oscars.....

Well now there's two of us and that is the definition of a party.

10,000
And I nearly failed to notice my own 10,000 post landmark.
Thanks to Tangle for pointing it out to me.
Off to the pub soon where I shall sink a few extra ones to mark this auspicious occasion.
