Re: First Amendment Violations
You're getting hysterical again. Calm down.
We cannot read your mind. That is why we ask questions, so we can figure out what you're thinking. But when we have to admit that we cannot read your mind, you start screaming hysterically!
Calm down and tell us what you really believe regarding the First Amendment. Not the nonsense that you've been hurling at us. Our questions are very useful guidelines to what things you've been yelling at us are confusing, so address the questions.

Re: First Amendment Violations
You aren't interested in what I think. I've given my honest opinion here many times and all it gets is twisted beyond recognition. All you want to do is accuse, just like the devil himself. I am not going to read your posts again, I am not going to answer your supposed questions, which aren't questions anyway, they are just accusations. Your evil nasty vicious accusatory attitude doesn't deserve another moment's consideration.

Re: First Amendment Violations
WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE TO TALK TO ANYONE THE WAY YOU DO?
I am someone who believes very firmly in the search for truth.
I ask questions to arrive at the truth.
I do not give up the search for truth.
I have found that creationists really hate truth.
Despite that, we still need to ask and answer honest questions of each other.
I keep trying to get a conversation going between us.
Creationists want to stop any conversation.
I keep trying nonetheless.

Re: First Amendment Violations
I am indeed interested in learning what you think.
You have posted nonsense that is divorced from reality. In response, I ask questions to learn what you are talking about.
If you answer those questions, then you will have gone far to clear up the confusion that your other posts have created.
If you refuse to answer those honest questions, then you are telling us that you don't want to clear the air, but rather to muddy the waters further.
Apparently, your choice is the typical creationist one, to muddy the waters further.
PS
I should warn you, I can be very persistent.

Re: First Amendment Violations
t seems that every time Christians of any stripe try to set up a theocracy, it turns into tyranny.
I think the tyranny is unavoidable. Theocracies hold their principles as indisputable. Yet every Christian accepts that just being moral and just is not enough to meet their requirements. That means to me that theocracies are always going to be needlessly oppressive about issues that don't truly involve right and wrong.
The Puritans have a solid history of intolerance. In fact some of them came here because their view of religious freedom involved persecuting others, and they were not allowed to do so in England. The Puritans treated the Quakers and most other non-Anglicans as heretics, and heresy was treason.
Faith talks glibly about not giving other sects power in Faithland. But the idea of such a state in our midst ought to be given extremely short shrift. Take it to an island; or maybe to Earth II.

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground, they want rain without thunder and lightning. Frederick Douglass

As Faith herself expounded, none of any other faiths will be allowed any rights at all. Atheists will be outright criminals. She now claims to allow all to believe as they wish, but her imagined DreamLand says the exact opposite! What are we to think or believe of her self-contradictory claims?
Christian Reconstructionists have stated that there will be no prisons in their domain. Trials will be very swift. Capital crimes (of which there are many in the Old Testament) will be dealt with swiftly with appropriate executions. All other crimes will result in slavery. Though such slavery can eventually result in freedom being earned by Christians. But when being of the wrong religious view, including atheism (which Faith very explicitly specified would be a crime) results in slavery, how then could that individual ever possibly reearn his freedom? Faith emphatically expressed her opposition to Christian Reconstructionist views, and yet she persists in hiding her actual beliefs and views. I cannot help but to suspect that she does in fact support Christian Reconstructionist aims and views. Why else would she so adamantly mask her own intentions so? She leaves us no other recourse.

My understanding was that the earlier Quakers could be much more provacative and confrontational than we would currently assume.
Still, Puritan response would never be measured.

Re: First Amendment Violations
I would outlaw teaching other doctrines in my state, I'd have to if I want to preserve the faith the state is founded on.
What does it say about the value of your faith if it can't survive unless all other faiths are suppressed? Seems to me that any idea that can't stand on its own in a free marketplace of ideas isn't worth much.

Not according to what you post here. Your posts parrot Dominionism completely.

Re: First Amendment Violations
I AM NOT IN FAVOR OF PUBLIC SCHOOLS AT ALL, PERIOD. I'VE SAID THIS I BELIEVE ON MANY OCCASIONS. PUBLIC SCHOOLS ARE A GUARANTEED WAY TO KILL THE CHRISTIAN FAITH OF CHILDREN. CHRISTIANS SHOULD NOT SUPPORT THEM AT ALL.
But as for the first amendment, it is absolutely stupid to put teachers in the place of Congress and apply the amendment to them. If you want to limit their activities by another standard, fine, but usuing the first amendment in that way makes no sense.
Clearly in sync with Dominion Theology or even more so with the even more radical Christian Reconstruction movement.

Re: First Amendment Violations
You aren't interested in what I think. I've given my honest opinion here many times and all it gets is twisted beyond recognition.
A subject comes up in a thread, you have an opinion and relay it. As with most opinions, from everyone not just you, there is disagreement, misunderstanding or confusion so the question/answer sessions begin.
Faith, please take this as constructive. These are my observations.
You seem to think that a lot of your opinions do not require support since the issue is self-evident to you. It is not so self-evident to others so the questions keep coming. When push-back comes saying the answers are insufficient you feel personally insulted. You, again, feel that what evidence or proof or answers you give should be sufficient.
Here is what I see as the crux. In a lot of cases here you have not thought through your positions sufficiently so you have no further answers and rely back on the self-evident answers already given and, yet, the push-back keeps coming.
Rather pointedly if I may, and this is just my opinion, you are getting a lot of questions, counter-arguments and push-backs because your positions are in the minority here and, again in my opinion, indefensible.
Everyone is here (yes, even you) because we find these types of discussions, disagreements and all, to be, not just stimulating, but down right fun. A big part of the fun is developing and evolving arguments and counter-arguments over the course of the thread.
You seem to have a problem developing and evolving your positions and arguments. You have given your position and argument (which you see as self-evident) giving answers to the push-backs without thought or refinement which just deepens the problems, leads to more uncomfortable questions which you cannot adequately answer. The frustrations of the perceived personal insults take over and you melt down into verbal abuse.
You are a fun person to have here. Your opinions are minority and it is fun to explore the options and rip your arguments to shreds. Everyone pulls on everyone's tail in these disagreements and frankly, Faith, it is loads of fun to pull on your tail. We do not want to lose you.
My suggestion is this. Do not be so sensitive and take these tail twists as personal insults. It takes a lot of different personalities to make a community so interesting. Given your personality you will reach the point where you want to throw sand in someone's face and punch them in the nose. Don't feel you are alone in that, by the way.
When you reach that point .. quit. Take a break before you explode. Go have a cup of tea, take a bubble bath, kick the dog, whatever helps to ease the stress. When you are done mentally strangling the shit out of your detractor, think through the issue at hand as dispassionately as you can and try to devise a different approach or slant to the argument.
Come back to us armed and ready to have more fun in the fight.
For what it's worth.

Re: First Amendment Violations
I don't know enough about Dominionism and Reconstructionism to get into their theology except that they seem to believe that the world is going to become Christian before the Lord returns, so that we are supposed to be working to make the world Christian, WHICH I DO NOT BELIEVE. I believe the world is getting worse and will just about self-destruct before the Lord comes back and the idea of trying to do anything to make it Christian is ridiculous. It's going to get further and further from Christianity as time goes on. Except for Catholicism which is sadly mistaken for Christianity -- THAT's going to grow and acquire power.

Re: First Amendment Violations
Your analysis of the situation isn't bad, I must admit.
But in this case I feel like the "disagreement" has become manipulative and not at all just a disagreement but more like "do you still beat your wife" that is being invented and imposed on me and has nothing to do with anything I've said. The more I try to explain the worse it gets in my experience. I DO need to take a break.
