I was tempted to post this in Humour VII, but I guess it deserves a thread of its own in case discussion breaks out.
Wikileaks had released the Hovind thesis.

Warning. Do not read at work!!
Knee slapping material.
I got twenty-five pages into the thing (in a very few minutes) before I had to quit because I simply cannot give myself away by laughing out loud at work.
Every paragraph or so I would mentally remind myself that I was reading a doctoral thesis, and then I'd have to click over to a work tab so I could contain the guffaws.
In what field would this paper be a 'contribution to knowledge'? Now I'm laughing again!!!
Uh-oh. My boss is calling me into the office...

Is it unusual for there to be no tabulated data at all in a science-based dissertation?
I have only read about 4 dissertations and they were filled with tables of data.

No data, almost no citations.
That's part of what makes this hilarious.
With that quality of writing, I would never have graduated from high school.

Depends on the high school. If you went to one of the Christian Cult of Ignorance avoidance schools that would not just pass muster, it would be A+ material.

Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Depends on the high school.
Perhaps, yes. But this is supposed to be a Doctoral Thesis. Hovind's paper would be mud thrown on the reputation of any school that awarded a degree based on such tripe. Of course, throwing mud on a pigsty wouldn't even be noticeable event.
Patriot Bible University - Wikipedia
quote:
Patriot Bible University (PBU), formerly known as Patriot University, is an unaccredited Independent Baptist correspondence school located in Del Norte, Colorado [2] which issues religious degrees only.[3] According to the State of Colorado, Patriot's "degrees or diplomas have no state recognition".[4] PBU is not accredited by any agency recognized by the Department of Education.[5] It has been called a diploma mill, lacking sufficient academic standards to award degrees.

Hail to thee my Alma Mater.
Glory to my God.
Bringing all the lambs to slaughter.
On science shall I trod.
Woe to all the non-believers,
Ye shall go to hell.
The Earth is young, evil deceivers.
Lessons I learned well.
My thesis written oh so easy,
No research need be done.
I lie, obscure, make syntax cheesy.
My ministry begun.
On our Lords right side I'm seated.
I make the evil wail.
On my Income tax I cheated,
And ended up in jail
Hail to thee my Alma Mater,
Unaccredited.
I bathe each day in Holy Water.
And now I am brain dead.

The first Doctoral 'dissertation' I've ever seen which starts with
'Hello, my name is.....'
The sad thing is that so many uneducated sheep are convinced that it is a 'Doctoral dissertation' and that the old convict is actually a 'scientist'...

Although 'leaked' appears to be a suitable term; the correct word is 'written'.

The normal practice for dissertations, is to publish them.
I gather that Patriot U. did not follow this practice. They allowed access, but only with some sort of non-disclosure agreement. I'm not sure of the details, because I have not followed it closely.
Yes, there has been earlier commentary by people who have had access. I am not aware of an earlier full public release (or leak).

The pdf has been out for a while, at least a couple years. I remember reading the whole thing (I'm a masochist).
Here's a post from 2009 linking to the whole pdf.
http://scienceblogs.com/...09/kent-hovinds-doctoral-disserta
The release date was in 2009.
Young-earth creationist Kent Hovind's doctoral dissertation - WikiLeaks
And at the james randi foundation forum they posted it in 2009.
[Merged] Kent Hovind's dissertation is available online - International Skeptics Forum
So, yes, this is old news. If you guys hadn't previously read this, then you've been missing out.
I did go through and read the whole thing. No, I did not do a full analysis of the paper. It was painful and embarrassing to read. Embarrassing for Hovind that is. I dare say I know some high school graduates that can write better than that.

How about "pooped forth"?
