The descriptions and capabilities of the ships and of their sensor and weapons systems were researched out of publicly available references such as Jane's Books. As he was researching for his book (I believe that "Hunt for Red October" was his first, or at least his first successful book), Clancy came across Bond's game and contacted him. Clancy based much of his naval systems knowledge on the game and on Bond's open-source sources, so that when Navy brass questioned him on where he had gotten that information from, he could answer them truthfully. They also used Harpoon to play-test the ships' actions in the novel. Later, Clancy and Bond collaborated on at least one novel, "Red Storm Rising", and Bond also went on to write a number of techno-thrillers. And the rights to Bond's Harpoon were sold to computer game developers from which a number of computer games have been developed.An interesting historical note is that Fred T. Anybody can draw pictures.I see that his pictures do not include reflected waves, do not include S-waves, do not include waves which change P->S and S->P, and do not include time of arrival. Show us some equations and parameters which produce the actual observed waves and timing of arrival and he may have something. Although I doubt it. Hello Mr. yenmor, welcome to EvC!It's a nice place. I shit $250 million before breakfast. Check out the movie "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" it's a documentary about it. Or a fiction novel. Doesn't matter, it has dinosaur fights!! False regardless if the Earth is hollow or not.
The bulk of the mass may be in the crustal mass (again, regardless of if the Earth is hollow or not).
But as long as the Earth is relatively uniform and spherical, the centre of mass will always be close to the centre of the Earth.The only way it'll ever be in the crustal mass is if we have some sort of seriously non-uniform, non-spherical Earth. If that were true, we'd likely have some kind of wonky rotation or orbit or something like that too. Is it? I hadn't noticed.

If you put in some work and make some observations, then you'll have a better idea on what actually is or isn't going along with the current theory. Yup. Well, not perfectly. More like mostly. Earth grows every time a meteor slams into us. This isn't why the land masses mostly fit together though... Paint thinner! Have they? Can you show me? I don't think this is true.
Here's a mapidoodle: I can see how North/South America mostly fit together with Europe and Africa.
But it doesn't look like North/South America fit at all with Asia and Australia.So it's certainly not "all sides."
Did he mean something else?Of course, the fitting together is nicely explained by Pangea and shifting plate techtonics. But that's not as fun as fighting dinosaurs!! Dinosaur poop.

If we're not making stuff up... then the explanation that fits with the evidence is one that doesn't include a growing Earth with hollow spaces inside.

I remember seeing ads in Popular Mechanics in the early 1960's selling books about Admiral Byrd's flight over the North Pole hole, the entrance to the hollow earth. We've come a long way since then - the Internet has brought us unlimited free nonsense.Edited by ringo, : Speling.

This idea actually gave me an idea for a science fiction novel. I spent about an hour last night googling around to see if anyone has ever done an idea like this. And sure enough, I couldn't find a single thing that even came close to the idea I have.Between my projects and day job, it will probably take me like a couple years to write this out.

Here's the thing. Have you ever tried to flatten out an orange peal in one piece? For instance, Greenland in that map of yours is much bigger than it actually is.I know you're not really trying, and neither am I.
