Modifications to the software that generates the HTML for the message threads has been modified to create smaller files. Please report any problems, especially dead or erroneous links, to admin@. Thanks!

When I click my name in order to see if I have any replies that I need to respond to, sometimes I see no indication in the relavant box, yet when I survey the other board, I see that I have red lights indicating that I have not responded to them yet. Is there a glitch, or am I still failing to understand the system?

The member message list only lists his most recent message in each thread. If the member has earlier messages in that thread which have unanswered replies then there will be no indication. You'll only be able to see if there are earlier messages with unanswered replies by clicking for the index for a thread.
I realize it's not perfect, but a balance has to be drawn between features and performance. In this case, searching each thread that a member's posted to for unanswered replies to all his messages in that thread could take too long.
However, while I'm happy with the current behavior, I do believe it could be improved upon. If you or anyone else have any suggestions for what you'd like to see I will certainly try to take them into account.

Thanks for your response. Also, how can I put those border lines before and after quotes that I want to respond to, something I see everyone else doing except myself?

To insert a horizontal line:

To turn bold on and off:
Turns bold on
Turns bold off
To insert a linefeed, ie, start a new line:

To start a new paragraph (usually means a double-space):
To indent a region:
Start of indented text
End of indented text
An example of HTML to implement a custom quoting style:

This will produce the following:

Use plug and play with the HTML constructs to achieve any effect you like. A more complete list of HTML constucts can be found at http://www.evcforum.net/htmlcode.html.

I'd like to shorten my user name; how to? Also, I forgot how to access the alternate way to see who I need to respond to, other than going through the member list and clicking on my name to see who is awaiting my reply; would you help me there too please? Thanks.

I think (being the jerk I am) that people need to stick with the names the registered with. minnemooseus is stuck with a name starting in a lower case letter.
Perhaps Percy needs to put a caution on the page where new members register - "WARNING - CHOOSE YOUR MEMBER NAME CAREFULLY, BECAUSE YOU'RE GOING TO BE STUCK WITH IT"
As for tracking replies - the best way to do it is to use the e-mail notification feature, found by going to and modifying your profile (link at upper right of most pages). When you enable that feature, you will get e-mails, telling you you got a reply to message W of forum X, in message Y, from member Z (or something like that).

ps: If you haven't already, you might wish to review upstring.

Thank you. But is there a way to bank all those codes and paste them when and where needed, or must we just type them all out long-hand every time?
