I can only see up to message 349, I have posted (probably multiple) posts since then, & they haven't appeared. The Great Debate page shows that 363 messages have been posted to date. What's up?

All the messages posted to this thread are in the database. The problem is that the process generating the HTML files craps out after page 22. The reason you don't see the new messages is that HTML pages 23 and 24 were last generated a few days ago.
I'm going to try to fix this this weekend. I don't think it's a problem in the code, so I suspect that my webhost company has imposed a timeout on CGI scripts. Once a thread reaches a certain length then the time it takes to process it into HTML files is long enough to reach the timeout. Another possibility is a max process size on CGI scripts, so that once a thread reaches a certain length the CGI script processing it grows too large and is terminated.
If I can't fix it I'll try to create a copy of the thread with the last 50 messages.

The plot sickens.
I just got off the phone with my webhosting company and confirmed my worst fears: they've placed size and run-time limitations on CGI programs for domains running on virtual webhosts.
There's an easy answer: more money. This approach is anathema to me, so I can try to make the CGI scripts more efficient, but that takes something I have little of right now: time.
I'll announce when I have a solution, but for now I'll close all threads when they reach 20 pages and open a new thread with the same name, but with a "II" or somesuch at the end.
