I don't like it either but get forced to use it occasionally. It's worth it to see Tan's images. They are super! Even more so if you like dragon flies.

Good to have you back: and on my birthday, too.
The above ontological example models the zero premise to BB theory. It does so by applying the relative uniformity assumption that the alleged zero event eventually ontologically progressed from the compressed alleged sub-microscopic chaos to bloom/expand into all of the present observable order, more than it models the Biblical record evidence for the existence of Jehovah, the maximal Biblical god designer. -Attributed to Buzsaw Message 53 The explain to them any scientific investigation that explains the existence of things qualifies as science and as an explanation-Attributed to Dawn Bertot Message 286 Does a query (thats a question Stile) that uses this physical reality, to look for an answer to its existence and properties become theoretical, considering its deductive conclusions are based against objective verifiable realities.-Attributed to Dawn Bertot Message 134

Wow. Looks like an arduous journey but, damn, you do some good work.
The only Dragonflies I've seen are the drab kind around Texas lakes. Shimmering blue wings. That's something else. That long black, gold, blue one with the clear wings with black vaining, that one is just extraordinary. Sorry to hear about the habitat destruction. Those damn humans. We can't keep anything nice here while they're around. Thank you for sharing. This is wonderful.

AZPaul, thanks for your kind words. I'm glad you were able to see them.
I spent all of May down in your area, Arizona, New Mexico and a bit of Colorado. I visited Mesa Verde and Chaco Canyon and then spent a bunch of time on the Gila River in NM and on Arivaipa Creek in SE AZ. (If nobody else notices you're gone, I'll miss your cheers on almost every post. By the time you get back I'll probably be down to a 6 again. ) Well you seem to have done pretty well without my help. I am posting a few of my images and will add more as I get them processed and uploaded.
Zenithoptera lanei is a very small dragonfly ~25mm in length. The body is drab and plain but the wings are metallic blue on the dorsal surface and shiny black ventrally. The wings are used for display by both males and females. An interesting wing display that I have only seen performed by this single species. We found 3 new sites for it and discovered that the site where we photographed it in 2009 had been destroyed by cattle. Elasmothemis cannacrioides was relatively common on more open streams. Heteragrion sp. are often found on shadier streams where you can only see the yellow bits. This one posed nicely for me in a bit of sun. I haven't determined which species it is yet. A Mnesarete metallica male. The damselflies in this genus are all very showy and like to perch in the sun,on the tips of leaves overhanging streams. A well camouflaged grasshopper. A thunderstorm in Loreto, Ecuador. Another type of photography I am really interested in is extreme weather. This shot was one of a series taken from the doorway of our hotel. This was the nicest hotel we stayed in the entire trip. It was brand new and only $12.50 per night. The town of Loreto is not a tourist spot at all and after several tries on successive evenings we gave up trying to find a restaurant with edible food and ate crackers and peanut butter and fresh fruit. The owners of the hotel hope to have a nice restaurant in a year or so. I dunno if love leads to skill, or knowledge leads to skill and then love, but all of those shine out of your photos.
As a long-time bird watcher, I've often admired dragonflies; they remind me of hummingbirds in both their flight and their gem-like colors--and the diffculty of photographing them. These are extraordinary images. I'd love to see more. Here in the Adirondacks, I am slowly spreading the gospel that dragonflies, rather than being another noxious biting bug, consume vast quantities of flies, midges and mosquitoes, and should be treated with respect. The local reflex is to swat all flying insects, maybe understandably, given the hordes of black flies, deer flies and mosquitoes that plague us in the woods: the most powerful AM station is "WBUG--Bug Country!" This summer I had the pleasure of hearing an Amish carpenter tell his son at my cabin site not to swat a dragonfly because they eat mosquitoes. In truth, I'd lie to protect them, they're so beautiful. ' Why does it seem sometimes that everything is beautiful but us?"If you can keep your head while those around you are losing theirs, you can collect a lot of heads."

Lovely pics Tanypteryx.
I have a photo I took and I note that it and yours all have a little bit of solid colour in their wingtips. Is that a constant feature?
