Am I evil for the anger I feel against evil?
ringo writes:
A lot of the evil that we see in the world is people pushing back against what they perceive as evil. Is it evil to kill people? Yes, often it is. Is it evil to kill people to prevent them from killing other people? That's when it starts getting gray.
This reminds me of how I felt yesterday when I was reading about another instance of piracy on the high seas.
Pirates Seize Captain, Engineer From Vessel Off Nigeria For some reason, these sorts of news stories enrage me! I think of ways that we should use drones to pulverize these bastards! Its odd though---what is it about them that makes me sooo angry?

Solutions for Somali Pirates
No one is evil for their feelings or thoughts.
You would only be evil if you actually did something (or intended to do something) that was evil.
Would it be evil for us---as a society---to send drones after the pirates?

Re: Solutions for Somali Pirates
Why? Drones have the technology to monitor large areas of ocean and are cheaper than naval vessels. Additionally, the Drones could be instructed not to blow them out of the water until they were confirmed. I see it as a possible solution to these rogues.

Re: Solutions for Somali Pirates
Any nation or group of people who fight us---we are supposed to spend our own tax money on and educate and train and allow them to build up and prosper so that they can then compete with us and maybe even take our trade away that way? God how i hate competition! We end up spending money to build up our own competition!!

Re: Solutions for Somali Pirates
someone should do an audit to see if its cheaper to blow them up than it is to educate and eventually compete with them.

Re: Solutions for Somali Pirates
all im saying is that this whole idea that a bunch of poor folks can become greedy and have no regard for the property of others and then we are supposed to comfort the poor babies by investing our tax dollars (which we need ourselves, by the way) into fixing up their country. I say that we should treat them like the criminals they are.
Dont you understand what will happen to the U.S. middle class if we build the whole world up to compete on equal footing?
(I know that you do because we have been through this time and time again...)
Our tax dollars should be used on our citizens first. period.
And I realize im not sounding very altruistic right now, but sometimes we have to claim what is ours before it is all given away to other countries.

Re: Solutions for Somali Pirates
sometimes I fly off at the handle.
I'm all for rebuilding the infrastructure and educating the masses here at home.
I think my anger is more properly directed at the two recent wars that bankrupted our future. Education is a huge issue and hits close to home for me, as my niece--who is a teacher without tenure---was told essentially that she is being let go since the district is 2 million dollars n the hole(St.Louis inner city) and yet we pay and pay for military stuff.
And here I go and advocate military action against the pirates! I was using them as a scapegoat for middle aged frustration, I suppose.

A brief off topic greeting to Frako
Here in Colorado, the Republicans nearly swept the Democrats out of every major office except the Governor---the only notable Democrat to win.
Hows Slovenija? Have you all managed to fully recover from the "Great Recession"?

A scientific theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that is acquired through the scientific method and repeatedly tested and confirmed through observation and experimentation.
But why must evidence be provided for a belief?

Re: Wow! talk about off topic !!!
My point is that you dismiss any and all beliefs...due to no evidence.
While this is your preference it is by no means the only option.
Granted we believers may be engaging in fantasy but this is not a default conclusion simply because evidence is lacking.
