Re: Tragedy and idiocy
I am nothing but really sad and angry.
How can anyone be so stupid and immoral as to make and sell guns for kids, how can anyone be so idiotic as to buy one and then leave it unattended?
Having firearms has apparently become so much a part of normal life that they are not treated with due care and attention. Once again - who on earth can be so obnoxious as to come up with an idea of arming kids. I hope the manufacturer quits and never has anything to do with guns again (and if possible, he could suffer from a violent diarrhea for like five years or sumthin...).

Re: Tragedy and idiocy
A 5-yo had gotten a 22-caliber rifle for his birthday!!! Who the h3ll thinks a real firearm is a proper present for a CHILD?
The manufacturers.
They found a niche and filled it. That's the American way. I guess.

Background checks
I wish the result were some kind of surprise. But only the fact that a vote was even taken should surprise us.
Next time, Gadget. Next time...
Yes, this will come up again and soon. If it passes the Senate, it will never get anywhere in the House. Boehner won't even bring it to the floor, and it becomes the rallying cry in 2014 to put the Dems & Pelosi back in charge so the House has a chance to vote on the bill.
It may hit Obama's desk sometime in 2015.

3D Printing
So.. Gun proponents..
In the interest of an "Armed Civilian militia" or whatever the hell it it is you think you need, I assume you would support the availability of the plans for 3D printable guns?
If not, why not?

So we have a pre-teen in New Mexico shooting people in a school with a sawed off and some idiot in Indiana shooting people in a grocery store and last month in Colorado a student shoots in school killing yet more folks.
WTF?
Oh and I forgot about the retired police capt in Tampa shooting a and killing guy for throwing popcorn at him at the movies.

Re: And yet more shootings......
The prevalence of guns prevents these kinds of crimes from happening. The boy was stopped by armed students!
quote:
The shooting lasted just 10 seconds before a teacher, identified as John Masterson, stepped forward and persuaded the boy to put down his gun, officials said.
Oh.
Well the grocery store was saved by an armed citizen right?
quote:
The officers opened fire and killed Bair.
Oh.

The right to bare arms begins at conception.

I was proposing restrictions on the sale of guns, not T-shirts.

Re: Background checks
It was my birthday today, the big six 0. I guess that's mother nature's way of saying, "welcome to old age." Thanks for the correction. I still occasionally attend church services. You could have saved me from a bigger embarrassment if I heard a sermon on "baring all things."

Yes. But that does not make me feel any better.
It is kind of like saying, well the fire men put the fire out after it burned your house down.
The U.S. seems to have a major mental health problem coupled with a major gun availability. Not a good combination in any event.

Actually, no.
It was the police that done killed him, not citizens who were legally armed.

Is that all? According to this site, there have already been 34 shootings in Chicago alone this year in January 2014... you know, where guns were practically banned.

Or theoreticially banned?

Pretty much.
You can read the legislation here:
http://www.isp.state.il.us/docs/ordinances/chicago.pdf
Guns were illegal to possess outside of your home.
